Bring Derren Brown to TAM 6!

Hey, everybody!

Derren Brown, who you may recognize from Sci-Fi's "Mind Control With Derren Brown" (http://www.scifi.com/derrenbrown/), is one of today's most popular magicians, and also a well-known skeptic.

Many JREF Forumites have requested him on the TAM Guest List. Unfortunately, at this time, the JREF cannot financially support his air fare, as he lives in England.

Because of this, at this time, I have been given permission to hold a Bring Derren Brown to TAM Fundraiser. If you requested Derren Brown for the TAM Guest List, now is your chance to help make that request a reality!

We are not taking donations for the fund at this time - only pledges, which are due by March. The goal is $2,500. So far, we have collected $650 in pledges.

When the pledge amount reaches $1,000, Mr. Brown will be officially invited to TAM 6, and we will begin collecting the promised sums through the JREF web site.

He has not been contacted yet. However, we just reached $1,100. Jeff has stated that a formal invitation will be sent at $1,000, and the required information on pledges has been forwarded to him!

If Mr. Brown declines the invitation, the pledges will never be called in for payment, and everyone will be informed individually of what happened.

We have received a response from Mr. Brown, and though he does want to participate in TAM very much, he will not know his schedule until very close to the time of the actual meeting. Because of this, the fund is being halted, as we cannot justify asking all the pledges to be held for months on nothing more than a chance.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the fund. If, in the future, you can think of a speaker who you'd like to see at TAM, or you can think of another place you'd like your pledge to go for TAM 6, please let us know.
