Interesting video since we are hearing two contradicting views on the same story here.

I wanted to post this because I am sick of the usual debunked crap we hear about CDs or thermite or magical space beams. It's time for something different.

Now you know why people in NY hated him pre-911. He's a lying sack of [you know what]. The best thing he did was give in to public pressure when he tried to cut the police department that Dinkins helped grow. Rudy and NY owe Dinkins everything.

Why was he laughing during that interview?

The idea that the ghoul could have been involved in a conspiracy to silence fire fighters who knew too much and get away with it is an absurdity. You see twoofers jumping up and down insisting that the fire fighters of FDNY are keeping their mouths shut because of fear of losing their pensions or worse. If the creep bothers us who do not even have to directly suffer from his unfitness for office, how can anyone expect fire fighters and cops who have lost brothers to remain silent when they could so easily throw his whole political career in the toilet with a few well-timed news leaks?

All conspiracy theories aside, can you guys hazard a guess as to why Rudy wanted the OEM in WTC 7? Are you guys buying that he wanted an OEM that was close to City Hall? We know he had plenty of access to drivers and transportation. Heck, he even used them to chauffeur his gumadas around. So why the fascination with 7, knowing it had been targeted by terrorists in the past?

WTC-7 had not been targeted. I'm sure that Giuliani was probably thinking about photo ops with him walking to the OEM. Somehow the image of the mayor making his way to Brooklyn via limo just doesn't seem as compelling.

Don't want to derail this discussion deeply into politics, but Giuliani is benefiting from the large field in the Republican primaries. As people drop out, don't expect Giuliani to benefit much. Every Republican running wants to be the last Giuliani alternative, because that's who will probably get the nomination. He's still the most likely person to get the nomination, but Howard Dean was in a far better position in December 2003.

I should have been more clear and said the WTC had been targeted. I wasn't specifying 7.

I hope you're right about the primaries. I won't go into derail mode, but there are so many reasons why Giuliani shouldn't even sniff the WH.

I think the opportunity for a photo op any time that the compost hit the ventillating device was and remains foremost in Rudy's mind. Everything he does seems staged for maximum pr value. Plotting two years back, during the Clinton administration to blow the towers would be out of the question, so there is no significance, in re a conspiracy, in his choice of that location.

You would also give Rudy too much credit for forsight to assume he could have been part of the original plot.

You said a mouth full here!

I lying sack of fertilizer who was at the helm of one the most powerful cities in the world. Who completely bungled the 9/11 response and then has attempted ( & some people actually buy his "America's Mayor" tripe) to exploit 9/11 to the Nth degree.

He didn't get to be where he is by being a dumba$$. Did he bungle 9/11 by negligence or by design?

But, no conspiracy here!?!?!?

I would go with the incompetance theory. He is not as bright as he thinks he is.

At the RNC, he related a story in which he turned to Bernie Kerik and made the comment "Thank God George Bush is President of the United States."

He was probably thinking that President Gore would have dressed him down for losing his command center and told him to go stand in the corner while the grown-ups dealt with the disaster.

Actually, that he was speaking to Bernie Kerik at the time says something about either his intelligence of integrity.

You can call Rudy a lot of things but I don't think stupid or incompetent is one of them.

The incompetence theory is about as realistic as space beams.

Honestly, I don't think Rudy is going to win the GOP nomination. I personally am a fan of McCain, Thompson, and Huckabee, and would like one of those three win it. Who i'll vote for? That won't be seen by me until the field thins more.

Rudy has too many skeletons in his closet, Romney seems like he doesn't know what he believes in, never really liked Paul, and Hunter i'm actually supised hasn't dropped out yet.

Why is seeming like he 'knows what he believes in' a factor to judge a candidate by?

Doesn't this 'flop flop' charge have the potential to weed out any candidate who changes his mind on a topic, a sign of someone who thinks and is capable of changing one's beliefs in response to evidence or good arguement?

The best thing he did was give in to public pressure when he tried to cut the police department that Dinkins helped grow. Rudy and NY owe Dinkins everything.

David Dinkins? The Mayor of New York after Ed Koch? That Dinkins?

I'm supposed to thank him for the increasing crime rate? Helping to drive out business? Twiddling his thumbs as property values decreased?

For blowing tax payer dollars on a sporting complex only meant to cater to the rich and elite (Arthur Ashe Stadium)?

THANKS, DAVE!

There is a lot I disagree with Rudy on. His hard on for an Upper West Side stadium. His short changing first responders when it came to the budgets. His countinuing the short changing of first responders and teachers (just like Dinkins), his ego trips, and closing off the front of City Hall to protesters.

But don't for one second actually think that people who lived in this City back then (and still do) would have Dinkins back. The mess he left the City in, when Rudy came in and did a hell of a job cleaning up (much of the credit goes to the police, sanitation and parks departments as well), almost broke us.

Don't get me wrong. Rudy is nuts. He's good when butt needs kicking, but his ego gets in the way. I don't think hell make a good president (I'd rather see him as Attorney General).

Could Mayor Mike become President Mike?
