View Full Version : Truthers can't handle the truth, googlepages closes my website

ref

Googlepages has closed my website 911guide.googlepages.com and also closed my 911guide e-mail. Apparently this is due to "hateful content", which is either my "truthers exposed" or "fake evidence" articles. Someone has complained about the content.

But the fight is far from over. I'll keep you posted on updates.

Oh the irony !!!

ETA: it once more confirms the quote I have in my signature:

"The conspiratorial world the 9-11 truth movement is gazing upon is only the shattered reflection of its own lacerated face."

Google are wusses.

It's not a surprise.

I got my account banned from YouTube because the 9/11 Deniers did not like my videos. It didn't just have Screw Loose Change, but it also had last will videos by the hijackers, two history channels specials on the Muslim Brotherhood and Hamburg Cell, 9/11 Deniers Speak, and Screw 9/11 Mysteries.

These people do not like being challenged.

Google hates the truth? No wonder conspiracy theories abound...

How can we protest this insane decision?

That's....just...twisted.

I was going to post an analogy, but I can't think of anything so...internally contradictive.

well let the crybabies have their moment of power. They bitch and whine about their own oppression, but have no problem with oppressing or censoring opinions not in keeping with their own.

I am sure you can find a site to host you where the complaints will not matter.

I would send an official protest to them, and use some comparisons, lets say to Anti-Bush sites, or anti-govt sites, and ask them how your site is any different.

I wouldn't let it rest, but if you don't win it back, it looks like it will not be a problem to get you re-hosted.

I'm kind of in the business of giving away web sites. See my sig.

Just out of curiosity I clicked on the link to your page to see what Google's error message was, and was refreshed to see that on the page stating the site was shut down due to a violation of policy that there was a "click here to contact us if you believe this was done in error" link. Unfortunately, the link seems much more ready to accept further reports of abuse than to remedy false reports of abuse. I hope Google corrects this, it's just annoying that some so-called truthers abuse the system to suppress valid criticism and that correcting the error seems so involved.

Google automates so much of this stuff that it is virtually impossible to get their attention to fix anything. Back in the Spring, somebody put up a phony blog claiming to be me, and even publishing my birthdate. I sent an email to Blogger (owned by Google), and they wrote back saying that they considered impersonation a serious violation of their TOS, and that they would be looking into it. Of course, the blog is still there.

Google's motto should be changed to "Don't be evil, be really evil."

Google has deleted stuff from both sides.

Maybe it's just douche bags flagging stuff.

I think it's hypocritical for people to ban any belief.

The funny thing is the actual "twoof" movement bans certain conspiracy theories.

Now THAT is the ultimate hypocrisy.

Is there an appeals process? I'd hope that they'd allow a site user to modify content before banning it.

What specifically did they consider "hateful content"? Did they tell you? I'm curious as to how Google determines this.

Standard conspiracist pattern in effect here.

1.) Make up wacky theory and start recruiting zealots.

2.) Start crushing dissent.

3.) Start stuffing people into boxcars.

4.) 60 years later, claim the whole thing never happened and that "they" made it up.

5.) Go back to 1.

This is why Google fit right in when they expanded to China. There's nothing like searching Tiananman Square there and getting only tourism results.

Yes, it's online again.

In the beginning I received no warning, then just got a message that my account was terminated and so on. And the site allegedly violated certain rules.

Well, I'm back now. Hope to stay.

ETA: Thanks to all for numerous hosting and server offers. It's good to know you guys are here :)

Good. It's nice to know that Google still has their "overreact first then check into the claims" clause.

Good news, but ,frankly, after being treated like that, I would find a new host.

I think instead of going by the amount of people who want something taken down, they should actually look at the content to see if there is anything hateful or racist. Hell, I think every single video offends someone in some way.

Jeez! If no one else will stick up for Google, I shall.

It's their service, they get to set the terms of agreement. Don't like it, find a host elsewhere. Just like JREF, they permit what they permit. Get over it.

agreed, and if REFs site was in fact in violation of any of their rules, then fine, but I suspect they removed him "on spec" based on the whining of truthers, and then when others wrote in protest, they took an actual look at the site, and realized it was not in violation.

Also agree- it's Google's right to remove any website in violation of their Terms of Service, as long as it is a violation, and not just a false claim.

We also have the right to challenge that decision and correct Google's error. That seems to be what was done here.

Nobody is disputing Google's right to set terms of service or to delete content that does not comply with the terms of service.

Perhaps you missed the fact that Ref's site did not violate the terms of service, and perhaps you missed the fact that Ref's site had been reinstated (at minimum) more than 21 hours before you wrote your drive-by, uninformed post. Bad form, that.
