View Full Version : Sylvia's 2008 Predictions?

Miss Whiplash

I see Sylvia is on Montel today, but there is no mention of her famous predictions for the New Year. Does anyone know when the old girl will do her yearly dog and pony show? Has she stopped as she came a cropper last year?

Hmm...it's not showing up that Sylvia is on Montel here. Yesterday was re-runs. Usually her prediction show is in January.

Her career prediction is always "you will succeed."

Miss Whiplash

Last year it was at the end of December (http://www.mondoskepto.com/node/69). Maybe it was done earlier than usual last year.

If anyone finds out when it will air, let me know. I want to keep a score card like I did last year. The poor thing did not do very well in 2007. ;)

It did not air last week in Los Angeles and this week was re-runs.

According to tvguide.com, it will air 12/31/07

Gotcha. If it airs for you on the 31st then it will air here on Jan 2nd.

I'm watching this week's rerun now. Same old same old. Those darn rockets have torn a hole in the ozone layer and the world will end in 90 years. Land o'goshen. Lawd a mercy... :D

Well, that's no problem. Biblically, 7 days aren't really "days", and aren't to be taken literally. A day can be hundreds, thousands, or millions of years. 90 years can be a heck of a long time.

So I'm OK with that. :)

I'm assuming that even though it was new, it wasn't a 2008 prediction show. Is that true? 12/31 is Monday, so I'm not sure why "Sylvia Brown Wednesday" would be moved up, but I'll keep an eye out. I too would like to keep track of what actually comes to pass in 2008.

I think she's going to avoid giving predictions this year, given that 2007 saw a significant amount of media scrutiny directed her way as far as her predictions and abilities are concerned.

And I don't believe that it's phased her one bit. She will make her annual predictions - and those that don't pan out - well, they just weren't meant to.... things changed - our energy changed what should have happened, etc, etc... she'll always have a reason to support why she's not accurate.

Maybe it has something to do with Opie and Anthony's "Whip 'em' Out Wednesday". Perhaps she wants to devote more time with that.

What was that thing with the doll in the show today? I wonder if the guy was lying to his wife or if they're both in on it? It didn't look even remotely real, it was like they turned the camera off, took the doll away and then turned the camera back on hours later (the light had changed). Then Sylvia made up some dumb story about it.

She is behaving much nicer though, I haven't seen her since the makeover.

I just heard a promo for the Montel show on Monday. Sylvia will do her annual predictions show then. Apparently she's going to tell us who the next president will be, the usual celebs who will be getting divorced, getting pregnant, getting arrested.... I think we all can predict those things.

Oh well. I thought for sure that she would avoid predictions, what with her "makeover" on Montel and the scrutiny she's gotten this year. But like you said, she always finds ways to make up for her mistakes.

Well Elizabeth I predicted that the year will change in this post

At 12:00:01 a.m. (or 24:00:01, whichever you prefer) on January 1, it will be a different year than it was at 11:59:59 p.m. (or 23:59:59) on December 31.

I've tallied up the hits for her 2007 predictions (http://www.mondoskepto.com/node/192). S. did not do so well.

I see the 2008 prediction show is on locally tomorrow, so I'll suffer that show just to watch her put some positive spin on her 2007 blunders.

BTW-What's going on with Sylvia's face in this pic? (http://www.montelshow.com/show/today/monday/) It looks strangely distorted.

I predict that 2008 will give us Sylvia Browne appearances on Montel every Wednesday, during which she will be given free reign to tell the guests anything she dreams up, without any critical scrutiny on Montel's part whatsoever, in fact, the exact opposite.

Also, that she will give vague educated guesses in late December as to the events of the next year and that her predictions for the previous year will be mined and selectively edited and passed as off as accurate despite the obvious flaws, such as that any of one of us could have guessed the same.

rjh01
30th December 2007, 04:02 PM
Could be worth an article for Robert. What she said about her 2007 predictions vs reality. Nothing would be worse for her than having her own words condemn her. For example if she says her prediction was A which is a hit but the actual prediction was B which was a miss then that would show her as dishonest.

If I recall, she generally lets Montel talk about how accurate she was last year, and she simply sits there nodding sagely.

Okay...it started off with Montel planting the image in my mind of Sylvia as a stripper. I may be ill.

Uranus was sitting on us, causing problems. I'd make a joke here, but it is the public section of the forum.

Jamie-Lynn Spears will have her baby (big surprise).
Britney needs medication...Sylvia says she has a 'bipolar condition'. Britney is surrounded by 'yes people'.

Owen Wilson will have another dip in his depression, but will get better.

Lindsey Lohan will straighten up her life.

Brad and Angelina won't stay together long term, but will adopt another kid. They'll split after the next adoption. Brad won't go back to Jennifer Aniston. Jennifer had 'soul hurt' from her split with Brad. She will marry a producer in a year or two.

Will this be the year our troops will come home?

They will come home in increments because other countries are bailing out.

Medicine..

Diabetes breakthrough and sound waves for cancer. There will be a type of medicine resistant flu. Vaccinations don't cause autism (good for her saying that). Now she's nattering on about stem cells.

Tsunamis, (big) earthquakes in Japan, volcanoes erupting that have been dead for years, dogs and cats living together.

So, even if Obama is simply the front-runner at some point, but does not get the nomination, her fans will count it as a "hit."

Also, notice that he didn't even bother to ask who wuold be the Republican front-runner or nominee?

I don't usually watch each week's episodes (although I do record them for RSL). I watch the annual prediction show because it's fun. This year's was a little dull.
