The printer-friendly (http://www.mrs.org/s_mrs/sec_subscribe.asp?CID=3695&DID=21812&action=detail&css=print) version is much clearer.

The only point I might add to the list is "Claims of persecution." For examples see the works of free-energy con artist Dennis Lee and many homeopaths.
ETA: I just looked up Dennis Lee (inventor) in Wikipedia to see if that guy has been placed in jail yet and found a placeholder but no article. Is there someone knowledgeable enough around here to put together an factually and legally accurate description?

squiggle, squiggle, doohicky, squiggle.Actually, Argumentum ad Squigglum is a common logical fallacy. You'll have to do better than that.

squiggle (doohicky, squiggle), squiggle (doohicky, squiggle) = doohicky, (squiggle, squiggle), squiggle (doohicky, squiggle) > doohicky, doohicky, squiggle.

It was flawed science in the sense that it was not something upon which further exploration and understanding could be built, even though it originally had that appearance. Although, one could argue that even legitimate post-modernist gobbledygook fails that criterion, which I suppose may be your point.
