Today on the Animal Planet channel's "Pet Star" show, a big woo-woo showed up.
Nancy Yaros from Philadelphia and her dog Sweetie.
First, the pet trick was the classic "literate dog" trick. She convinced the judges that her dog can actually read by having the dog pick the correct flash cards from numbers to letters to even pictures of the judges. The conjurers in this group should know the trick to this one easily. I think it is poor taste to use magician's tricks to fool people into thinking that a dog has been trained to read and do math.
Second, this lady claims that the dog is her mother re-incarnated. When questioned as to why, she claimed that the dog spelled "mom" when asked "who are you inside" and then the dog spelled "Dorothy" when asked "what is the name of who is inside". (Dorothy being the trainer's mom)
It just pisses me off when I see woo-wooism like this, especially when they exploit innocent creatures.
Me and the wife were very happy to see that this lady (despite getting a perfect 30 from judges), didn't win the audience's final pick.
