Add up the Walton family. It's all old Sam's fortune.

What's with the Rockefellers? Not one Rockefeller on the top ten list? What's up with that?

Bill Gates is in a class by himself. He's approximately my age. Like all American boys approximately my age, I'm sure he read Superman comics.

Like all American boys aproximately my age, Bill Gates undoubtedly fantasized about having a "fortress of solitude".

Gates is the one who actually achieved the fantasy. Ever read about his underground house near Seattle?

Why don't they ever make lists about the poorest people in the country? ;)

On second thought, maybe it's not quite as interesting:

Rank — Name — Worth ($) — Age — Residence — Source

3 — Bill — $0 — 25 — Gutter — Begging, collecting cans, eating garbage
4 — Hank — $0 — 43 — Gutter — Begging, collecting cans, eating garbage
5 — Cliff — $0 — 32 — Gutter — Begging, collecting cans, eating garbage
6 — Sally — $0 — 34 — Gutter — Begging, collecting cans, eating garbage
7 — Roy — $0 — 39 — Gutter — Begging, collecting cans, eating garbage
8 — Buck — $0 — 23 — Gutter — Begging, collecting cans, eating garbage

How much do you need to get membership into the top 1% of US wealthy? Top 5%?

We always talk about taxes "punishing these rich people who worked so hard" but I imagine many of the big money folkes didnt do shiz to get that money. Its probably old money dating back to great grampas rum running days.

From that same site there is a pretty terrible interview (http://www.forbes.com/free_forbes/2003/1006/054a.html) with the heir to the Johnson & Johnson fortune who has a documentary coming out where he interviews other heirs to other fortunes. The interview is bad and brief, but it did pique my interest in the documentary called Born Rich. It is playing on HBO some time in October.
