Im in a debate about GE and organic farming, and I know Norman Borlaug claims that if we completely went to organic and without GE farming, we would only be able to feed 4 billion people in the world. Does anyone know if this is sourced somewhere else? Or is this simply a claim he makes?

It might be from the claim that he saved a billion lives by helping people in developing countries with GE foods.
However, if that is the case, then it really isn't an accurate claim.

Maybe modern food production increases output by a certain percent? We know roughly how much food is grown today. Multiply that by the percent and maybe it would feed only 4 billion people. Total guess.
That isn't to say 2 billion would starve. Obviously more land would be used for farms to try and compensate for that problem in that alternate universe..
