I need to find a new host for my company's web site. Can anyone recommend a good web host?
I've checked some review sites but I can't figure out who to trust. Companies rated high on one site are rated low on another or not rated at all. I suspect the referral $$$ may be influencing the reviews.
I need a Windows based host as the site uses ASP and an Access database. About the only other requirement is the ability to occasionally handle large(~10MB) attachments in e-mail. We don't do e-commerce or have a great deal of traffic.

Sorry, I know web hosts were discussed in another thread not too long ago but I couldn't find it.

I use an Oz hosting service (Unix) which I've been very happy with, but they also have Windows packages and US hosting so it might give you an idea of cost/features for comparison.

What ever you do, make sure you get a service with a full function control panel facility so it's easy to set up site/domains/email etc. There are still hosting companies in Australia that require a fax to make changes!

Also, it's worth checking if they include decent server side SPAM filtering, as I find this essential for many sites these days.

Take a look at Heart Internet, I don't know if a UK based host would be suitable though.

Bargain - I used to use OneAndOne in the UK and they were quite good.

I don't know why everything internet related is still so much more expensive in Australia.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm hoping to find a U.S. based host, if only to get decent support during our normal business hours.

I took a look, but...

As of January 1, 2005, we are no longer offering shared webhosting services, choosing instead to focus more directly on colocation services and dedicated server hosting, which are the primary services we offer. We recommend that you take a look at our dedicated servers as an alternative.

A dedicated server is more than we need.
Thanks.

I'll just close out my own thread. We ended up with a company called LFC Hosting and after a few weeks I'm quite pleased with them. They met all of our needs, had good reviews and several awards from a few years ago so I knew they had been around for a while. Transition went smoothly and there have been no problems so far.
