Who are the Rothchilds, and what did they ever do to you?

The "Rothchilds" are one of those things Truthers bring up in conversation that they think needs no explanation, like you're just supposed to agree with them just because they said it. Like "Ooh, the ROTHCHILDS were involved". That's all they have to say. They don't go into anymore detail, they just say "Rothchilds" and it's supposed to automatically become a conspiracy.


I would like to know:

1) Who are the Rothchilds?
2) What did they ever do to deserve getting blamed for everything under the sun?

Without using the Google, I will say the Rothchilds were (are?) a rich Jewish banking family mainly of French extraction whose roots go back well into the 19th century. You should be able to find some informative books about them at your local library.

If you don’t like to read, get the DVD of ‘House of Rothchild’ (1934) with the lovely Loretta Young. Interestingly, excerpts from this film were used in the Nazi mashup Der Ewige Jude (The Eternal Jew, 1940) though I don’t remember the Hollywood film even mentioning that the Rothchild’s were Jewish.
