dnscoop.com (http://www.dnscoop.com/) say Randi.org is worth $1,815,020:
The code for their blurb is below in a spoiler tag so as not to get in the way. A Mod may want to make it active....or not:
<div style="height:130px;width:119px;text-align:center;padding: 10px 0 10px 0;background: url(http://www.dnscoop.com/images/sharebgb.gif) no-repeat; }"><center><div style="border-bottom:solid 1px #cdcdcd;width:100px;margin-bottom:5px;padding-bottom:5px;"><a href="http://www.dnscoop.com/?site=randi.org" title="Domain name appraisal" style="font-size: 11px; font-family: arial;">My Site is worth</a><br/><span style="font-size: 12px; font-family: arial;"> <b>$1,815,020</b></span></div><div style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS',Arial,Verdana,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><a href="http://www.dnscoop.com" style="color:#444343;text-decoration:none;font-size:13px;">How much is<br />your site worth?</a></div></center></div>
I tried it with one of my websites which contains nothing more than one page of HTML with the name of the site printed in a large font. No links, nothing, but is worth $138
Maybe that is just because it's been around a while although it does get non-bot hits.
I'm curious how valuable such tools are.
Do/would you use them?
Is this a particularly good/bad one?
How much is your site worth?
.
NB - You only get a few checks without registering - choose carefully.

wow...a domain that I registered for a now-defunct business, that I have barely used for years, and that gets virtually no traffic, is listed by them as being worth over $12000.
Perhaps I should look at selling it...

All I get is a page that asks me to register. I hate that.

There should be a box at the top for you to enter a URL and check?
There is a register button on the same page but I was allowed a few checks before being required to register.
Seemed OK when I just checked.

My domains are worth a sum-total of zero dollars. Crap.

Could be useful for checking site you're considering advertising on. It's definitely useful for the JREF as substance for soliciting ad revenue.

No, tried it at work and still didn't get anything. But I found myself on a machine with Firefox and it worked fine there. Starthinker.com is worth a whopping $533.00!

:D I get that a lot. If I ever decide to take anything seriously or think of something better to use it for, I'll consider change.

Not bad... five grand! I wouldn't sell it for ten times that though.

dnscoop.com say Randi.org is worth $1,815,020:
A domain is worth only as much as you can get for it, and unfortunately market value and worth are not necessarily the same thing.

dnScoop.com attempts to estimate a value for an established website or a domain name by using factors such as:
* Links pointing to the domain
* Popularity of the domain
* Age of the domain
* Pagerank of the domain
* Traffic to the domain
* and more...
We believe that these factors are a good indicator of a site's value and earning potential. We don't claim that the tool is 100% accurate, but we are constantly working to improve accuracy.
And how do they use links, age, page rank, traffic, etc to calculate dollars ? What formula or model do they use ?
I am a bit skeptic of these website values. :p

I've seen that site. It's utter BS. I own a site that gets virtually no traffic and they say it's worth 1.4 million because of its good (really mediocre) google pagerank. Another site makes no money, has no traffic, and they say it's worth half a million. A site that I own that makes good money and has a killer domain name is valued at less than those two.
As far as I can tell they throw darts at the wall to give you a price tag. But it's a good strategy on their part; they sure get a lot of attention by spouting crap. They made you look, didn't they?

The estimated value of http://dnscoop.com is: $99,910
Heh...guess they aren't artificially inflating their own value.

My site is allegedly worth $365,800. I actually kind of expected more, based on the posts in this thread. Hey, my Alexa rank IS 1135, which I'd say isn't bad at all.

Maybe they do. :p
The value was a mere $3,685 (http://technosailor.com/if-you-want-value-dont-listen-to-dnscoop/) on year ago.

Says my web site http://www.whiterosesociety.org/ is worth $34,060
Which is just WAY high for a site I make $8000 a year with.
