Just got tickets for David Mamet's play Speed-the-Plow at the Old Vic in London. Kevin Spacey and Jeff Goldblum are the leads, two of my favourite actors ever. On the same stage! Together! Doing a Mamet play!
I can't wait.

I'm not a big theater guy, but that sounds great.
You said tickets . . . take me?

take me?
At £47.50 a ticket...no.
But you can bring yourself! I'll let you have some of my Revels.
ETA: not the orange ones though. Or the ones like two Buttons stuck together.

I hear they're pretty good, though.
Probably not $600 airfare plus $90 ticket good, though. You'll have to try to enjoy the show without me.
Yes, just you, and whoever you actually want to go to the show with, and your fancy chocolates. And Spacey and Goldblum. In a Mamet play.
Don't worry about me, though. I'm sure American Idol is on that night. I'll be fine.

Not to put a downer on your mood, but When the gods would make us mad, they answer our prayers. ;)
I love mammet, unfortunatly my only experince of StP is lighting a very bad production of it a cople of years ago, the actor palying Fox ran his liens in a difefrnt sequence every night, made for some... interesting... scenes. I'm glad that you're seeing it with a first rate cast.
If you like plow, get hold of a copy of Christopher Durang's send up speed the play, a perect (loving) satire on Mammets style ("you squat to pee/ you genuflect to pick your nose!"), if you ask nciely I may even be able to dig out my copy for you.
But remember, these are the Dark Ages. They aren't to come, the Dark Ages--they are now. We're living them.

I'm pretty confident. Is there an actor with better taste than Kevin Spacey? Even my beloved Phillip Seymour Hoffman has made some poor choices.
I may take you up on your play offer. Not giving up any orange Revels though...

The only bad thing I have ever seen Kevin Spacey in is an old episode of The Equaliser, and he was even pretty good in that :D
