I don't use Macs, so I'm not familiar with how they are set up but in Windows, when you use Yahoo Messenger there is an archive option that you can turn on to save all your IMs. I'm trying to help a friend on a mac and she said this option is missing. Are there any archive settings or place to check to see if her IM's are getting archived? Her Mac is a Probook and only a couple months old and I'm not sure what OS that it would have on it.

Anyway, if there are any Mac users familiar with archiving Yahoo Messenger chats and can help me, thanks in advance!

Well, in the current version (3.0 Beta) it's right there under "Preferences -> Messaging" as the option "Enable Archiving" (near the bottom of the window). I doubt that the OS version should have anything have to do with it, but if her MacBook Pro is pretty new, she should run Leopard (10.5.x) like I do.

Don't know where the archives are saved... I just started using the program.

Use Adium (http://www.adiumx.com/). This supports Yahoo, MSN, AIM and ICQ for free, and it archives.

We don't want archives. That's what we're worried about.

You can turn it off in Adium.

In Yahoo Messenger for Mac archiving seems to be off by default... At least it was when I installed it.

Is Adium any better than Proteus? I currently use the latter, but it hasn't been updated in a while, and I wondered if Adium had overtaken it? Neither has webcam support, which is a pain. :(
