Hi

Has anyone else seen this? I'm not a doctor or anything, and the things doctors normally do seems completely off the wall to me, but this stuff is off Off-the-Wall's wall!!

...or am I the last one to find out about this.

This is an old story. I ran into Lee a year ago during one of the big RC meets last spring and he was telling everyone the story of how he grew his finger back. Keep in mind he only really lost the top half of his digit. The base of the nail was still intact which allowed for that to regenerate. Also I remember him saying the bone never grew back.

And contrary to the article, he does have a scar, though you don't really notice it until he shows you.

I remember reading a few years back about how researchers were doing experiments with regrowing tissue, specifically for burn victims. Lab tests showed that by adding a "regenerative powder" to an open wound reduced the healing time by half and the need for skin grafts were also not always required.

As for how it works, you are going to probably have to ask one of the doctors who perform the procedure. I can only guess that it has something to do with the stem cells changing to form the skin cells and the other chemicals in the powder are building blocks.
