"Male Enhancement" Drug Guru In Hot Water (http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/02/22/business/main3867202.shtml)

(AP) A federal court jury on Friday found the owner of a company that sells "male enhancement" tablets and other herbal supplements guilty on charges of conspiracy to commit mail fraud, bank fraud and money laundering.

Steve Warshak is founder and president of Berkeley Premium Nutraceuticals, distributor of Enzyte and a number of products alleged to boost energy, manage weight, reduce memory loss and aid restful sleep.

Hopefully those commercials will never air again. That music was really annoying.

Those commercials were funny though... yes I have a very low-brow sense of humor. :p

Some former employees, including relatives of Warshak, pleaded guilty to other charges and cooperated with prosecutors. They testified that the company created fictitious doctors to endorse the pills, fabricated a customer-satisfaction survey and made up numbers to back claims about Enzyte's effectiveness. Gee, and they seemed so trustworthy, too. How could a company who's entire sales pitch was that it makes your wang bigger without every actually saying it'll make your John Thomas larger or your tiny tadger into a huge hard prick possibly be doing anything nefarious?

I've complained about these ads before, it's nice to see them getting what they deserve. I'm a bit curious about the money laundering charges, but the rest seem to be pretty much par for the course on the usual supplement scams. Kind of sad that though customers were bilked of $100 mil, the forfeiture is in the tens of millions. I'd rather like to see the company burned to the ground and the ashes salted, the owner strangled with his own entrails, and his mother burned as a witch (that's not her REAL nose). But I'd settle for a few castrations, starting with the actor playing enzyte Bob.

Sure, it was only a series of mildly annoying ads, but it's my right as an American to propose ludicrously excessive punishments for mild annoyances! ;)

And I'll fight till I'm mildly tired for your right to do so. ;)
