When I was a kid, I loved a series of books that I would check out from the library again and again. It was a series by Time magazine maybe.
Each covered a general subject of science like "life" or "time" or "energy".
It's funny. There was several of them, but the only one I remember any details on is the one about time. It explained features of the theory of relativity with a cartoon about a train moving near the speed of light.
They were large but thin, like a coffee table book. Does anyone know what series of books I'm talking about?
