View Full Version : Sylvia Browne: " I don't like Oprah, and she's Gay"

Sylvia Browne had one of her $1,000 a pop Spiritual Salons this past weekend, and one of her spiritual statements, as reported by one of the devoted attendees, was about Oprah Winfrey.
According to the attendee, who must remain nameless, Sylvia said that she did not like Oprah, that there is something about Oprah that just throws her off, namely her not being honest about her past, and not being open about her sexuality.
According to Sylvia, Oprah is gay, or bisexual, but won't acknowldege it.
I find this funny since Sylvia told me personally on the phone last year that she was working closely with Oprah, as well as Dr. Phil, and now she publicly outs Oprah!!!!!!!
I wonder if Cardinal Darren English will edit this bit out of the tape of the Salon before he sends it out to the attendees.

I've heard the same suggested about Oprah Winfrey, I guess given that she's a middleaged woman who has never been married and the odd relationship she seems to have with her on-again, off-again alleged boyfriend.
So I guess this makes Sylvia Browne homophobic, in addition to being racist and sexist. And cold, rude, ignorant, dumb and tasteless. What else am I missing? Oh yeah, heartless, insensitive, exploitative, loud, crass and crude. And bigmouthed, obnoxious, classless and mannerless. And let's not forget lying, cheating, cold-reading waste of space, here sucking up all the air.

PBF, did she say in what way she was working with Oprah and Phil?
Eeney, you pretty much summed up a whole thread's worth of commentary on SB in one paragraph. Nice work! :D

Earlier today (yesterday actually) I was listening to some Chicago talk radio hosts review Valerie Bertinelli's appearance on Oprah. Valerie's confessions, Oprah's commitment to transcendent thought, and her audience's unconditional reverence cast the show as a meeting of The First Assembly of Oprah, for those hosts at least. Maybe Sylvia is worried Oprah is crowding her gig?
So I guess this makes Sylvia Browne homophobic, in addition to being racist and sexist.
What are you referring to that suggests Browne is racist? Just curious.

What are you referring to that suggests Browne is racist? Just curious.Perhaps she is referring to Browne's propensity for identifying killers, molesers and kidnappers as black, Hispanic, or "dark-skinned."
Or she could be referring to this article (http://www.stopsylviabrowne.com/articles/novusspiritus_thesefreaks.shtml), specifically the section regarding Atlantic City (http://www.stopsylviabrowne.com/articles/novusspiritus_thesefreaks.shtml#atlanticcity), which describes a conversation in which Browne makes racist remarks about an Asian limo driver.

This reminds me of an evening session with Sylvia's supposed spirit guide Francine back in the 1980s, when Francine warned us at length that the "Oriental" would be infiltrating the United States slowly and would have taken over by the year 2000. As I recall, Francine stated that even though we would no longer be able to own anything, we should feel reassured by the fact that they, as a race, are "fiercely protective" and, essentially, would take good care of us as long as we didn't resist too much. Of course, by then we were all supposed to be living communally on ocean-front property in the midwest. As I recall, she mentioned that New York or the east coast would be among the first places to be affected by the earthquakes or the Oriental takeover, but that didn't matter because no one wanted it but "the Jews" anyway.
On second thought, maybe this would have been more appropriate over in the 'nuttiest woo" thread.

Happily, you have a copy of the tape - it's one of the ones I sent you. I just dug through the tapes. The ones I sent you are in order of date and this one would be from August 1989. To save you time, it starts with, "The last night of this session, I'll do something I don't usually allow to happen..."

Another damning article a brewin'! For what it's worth the one time I met Sylvia personally she spoke of Oprah in the same way. This was in 2000 and I remember it well, partly because it was the first time I'd heard the term "beard" used in that way. I was disappointed with her demeanour that night and focused on the "philosophy" from that point onward. Sylvia called Oprah a bitch and a lesbian that evening - and her tone was clearly one of contempt. This was at a table with eight fans, none of whom she'd ever met before. There must be many witnesses to such behaviour!
Good huntin' Robert :D

RSL, I transcribed the tape I mentioned above this afternoon and will send you the transcript. That was a full hour of spoken material.
Since what I mentioned earlier was based on my memory of the tape from 19 years ago, here's the updated version:
California will drop off in 2004 as a result of the big quake. This is when the pole shift will happen. By 2000, though, all the spiritual people will have relocated to Colorado and the southwest. The Oriental occupation will take place on the west and east coasts, though nobody wants the east coast anyway. It was someone in the audience who pointed out that the Jewish people wanted the east coast, not Sylvia herself. She goes into great detail about the Oriental occupation, saying eventually they will take over the world and be the dominant race. They will have done this on the two coasts by 1994 or 1995. She says that even though no one else will own anything in California, that's okay because you can always go buy something in the southwest. She says that Atlantis and Lemuria will rise again. She goes into great detail about SCAN, which is a group of 22 people who run the world. The Rockefellers and Kennedys were a part of this. Roosevelt was. The Prince of Monaco. And here's an interesting turn: SCAN deliberately loosed the AIDS virus upon us. When someone came right out and asked who exactly these 22 people were, Francine basically changed the subject. Odd that in 20 some books, Sylvia hasn't mentioned ANY of these significant events, isn't it?
RSL, I'll let you know if I think of any other wacky tapes but this one may have some potential.

If it is on tape then go to a friend who has a stereo and say I need this on CD please.

Very likely (and note I've suggested it first ! :p): Woos will band together only against skeptics, rationalists, and other assorted impediments (regulations and tax offices come to mind), but will never favor competition. Besides, I think Oprah is smart enough not to openly associate with someone as obviously stupid and crass as SB.
Disclaimer: from what I've seen of Oprah, she's the high priestess of the sob-story, and her show is so sugary-sentimentico-romantal that it should be forbidden to diabetics.
