This, my friends, may be one of the stupidest things any Israeli has ever said.

We all know, there are folks out there, just trying day and night, to compare Israel to the Nazis. And how do we respond? "The analogy is unfair", "Israel never has nor never would commit genocide or ethnic cleansing", "such a suggestion, that Israel or Jews, would commit genocide, is anti-semitic".

And, this argument held water, for Israeli never has commited genocide, though ethnic cleansing did take place during the 1948 and 1967 wars. But genocide? No way.

But now...we have this schmuck....threatening Gaza with a Shoah...a Holocaust. What a pathetic choice of words. And he cannot claim he "meant to say 'Disaster'". Shoah is totally associated with the Holocaust and Genocide. He can not honestly get around that one. Its too late.

So now, all the anti-semites and anti-zionists, can proudly quote this fool, and say "see? the israelis ARE like the nazis!! they openly call for genocide in Gaza!!"

This, Deputy Defense Minister, should be publicly repudiated, and FIRED!!

If Israel does not, then they are telling the world "its ok to call for genocide against Arabs".

I hope and pray, Israel will do the right thing.

He actually said a 'bigger' holocaust, showing that he thought the Palestinians were already being subjected to an existing and ongoing holocaust.

See '...they will bring upon themselves a bigger shoah...' from http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2008/feb/29/israelandthepalestinians1

Is it just the messenger you are attacking or the ongoing shoah he is talking about?

PS Has he been fired yet?

Parky started this thread before he posted in the other thread. Somehow it hasn't been merged.

I will put in a request for merger.

Request submitted.

It was a poor choice of words but clearly from the article one understands that he did not mean 'shoah' as holocaust:

"...
"The more Qassam [rocket] fire intensifies and the rockets reach a longer range, they will bring upon themselves a bigger shoah because we will use all our might to defend ourselves," Matan Vilnai, Israel's deputy defence minister, told army radio...."

He uses the word 'shoah' together with "defend ourselves" so clearly it has nothing to do with the Nazi plans against the Jews in WWII.

The use of the word 'shoah' is kept for when one refers to the holocaust and thus his choice of words was very wrong.
