8 of us showed up at 7:15, shortly after the polls closed, last night.
8 representing 3 different precincts. And we had a total of 11 delegates to allocate.
We had 3 strongly in favor of Clinton, 4 in favor of Obama, and one undecided.
'I' had hoped that we could reach a common ground, and convience each other that we should support one candidate, but those who were there would NOT be swayed.
While Clinton won the elected 'votes', Obama seems to be ahead in the Caucases.

8 people electing 11 delegates?! - or am I reading this wrong?
Considering there'll be a total of +-4000 delegates (I think) at the convention, how can this be?
Sounds like a rather unique constellation (or like a major misunderstanding on my part... :) )

8 people "allocated" where or to whom the 11 delegates from 3 precints would go to...

State delegates, perhaps?

Texas has a WAY HORKED up manner of assigning delegates.
2/3 comes from the actual votes cast, and the remaing third is decided at these caucases. Something like 750 voters decided where the first 2/3's went, and then a meager 8 decided where the last third would go.
Crazy huh?
My point is that you votes counts, but not as much as your caucas support does.

Does this thread make any sense to anyone here besides KoA?

Yeah, i participated in my first Texas caucus on Tuesday. Our district was a bit different from KoA's, apparently. There were HUNDREDS of caucusers all crammed into a too-small room, all shouting at the top of their lungs. Its was pretty exhilarating, seeing democracy in action, but it's certainly not the most efficient way to get a representative sample of the voting public.
However, I DID like the idea that my vote counted twice :)

So Texas has to have a caucus as well as a primary?
I guess the Texans really have to do EVERYTHING Bigger then anybody else does it.....

Yeah, I'm unclear as to whether this is a new policy or not. I'm fairly new to this state.
As for Texans doing everything bigger...well... you can certainly count their SUVs, McMansions, religious schools, churches, etc... in that category. It's quite embarrassing to live here :boggled:
