I noticed a billboard today advertising the services of Madame Zamora, a psychic. It listed the swell things she can do, and at the bottom was this message; "No Guarantees". Is that truth in advertising, or what? :p

We have a local "voodoo doctor" who advertises in the Riverfront Times tabloid.
His ad: "Psychics predict, Voodoo gets results."

You know, voodoo gets a very bad rap. It actually has a very stabilizing influence on societies that practice it.
For example, a husband cheats on a wife. The wife wants to do her husband harm to get revenge. Does she pick up a knife and stab him in the privates herself? No, she goes to the local voodoo priest, and they cast a spell, a 'curse' on him. They may even take a doll representing him and stick pins into its privates.
In the end, instead of a wife attacking her husband, voodoo has provided a safe outlet for her frustrations, and her need for revenge. She cut up a doll rather than a man.
So you could say voodoo works. Just not in the paranormal way people might think.

Is there no legislation in the US to protect consumers from fraudulent advertising claims?
