I saw Montel yesterday and was surprised to find that the "Paranormal State" kids were on.
They sat around a big table with Montel and showed clips from their show and had on as guests some of the people who claimed to have demons and ghosts in their homes.
As usual Montel acted all enthusiastic and supporting and even made a mention of how they use "psychics" and had to also say that he has Sylvia Browne on his show.
The show was all right, I guess, but I have to admit that I'm a little surprised that Montel, for his last season, is embracing woo so much.

I don't think its "woo woo" he embraces, it is the dollars that follow "woo woo".
SB is a prime example wrt the cash cow that "woo woo" is. Others, like Discovery/Travel/History Channel are starting to tap this vast dollar resources as well; offering obviously biased views on Bigfoot, psychic's and other "woo woo" stuff.

Montel has been smoking too many "special cigarettes" to help his MS!
In all seriousness though, woo is infiltrating television like never before. I blame ghost hunters for starting this most recent trend.

I just saw Randi give a lecture last night. When it came to talking about Montel he said it like it is. He called him a whore.

He called him a whore.
Can't add anything to that.
What really distresses me is how widespread the Montel-type whores are. I just want to shake all the viewers of those shows and ask them "you don't really believe this, do you?", but I'm afraid of the answers I'd get.

Wow...Randi said that!? I guess he doesn't mince words, does he?
Yes, woo is on tv like never before and Montel obviously cares about the money. He mentioned that Paranormal State is a hit show. I didn't know that. I surfed the web when it first aired and saw a lot of negative reviews and didn't think it was doing well. But heck, I watch it. Not because I believe it but to see how ridiculous it can all get. I feel sorry for the families who are told their sons committed suicide because of a ghost and that they should keep neat homes because messy ones invite demons in.
Oh, and they use and endorse mediums and psychics. And the bible and god comes into everything and...oh boy. The show is almost a soap opera of religiosity.

Randi is helping woo by his name calling. Any woo who hears Randi do name calling will just laugh and think that Randi is nothing but a bully. As a result it is even harder for a woo to be convinced of anything real.

If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, there's no need to be touchy feely and mince words. Montel is a Kodak whoring shutter slut for attention and a pimp for woo.

What's a 'whore'?
is that like a 'ho'?

Just in case you aren't joking, "ho" is simply a shortened form of "whore." They aren't "like" one another: they're the same thing.
If you are joking, make it look more like a joke next time, so I won't respond with a serious answer. I really hate that.
Well, I do. :)

I disagree. In context, Randi made his case clearly before putting that label on him. Montel, he explained, is on record several times saying that he doesn't believe in psychics at all, yet he has Sylvia Browne on every week and does all he can to encourage people to believe that she's the real thing. The only thing that he has to justify his behavior is money.
The pain and suffering caused by the Sylvia performances on Montel has been demonstrated and brought to his attention (http://stopsylviabrowne.com/articles/openlettertomontel.shtml).
I might have a different opinion if Montel gave as a reason for ending his show after this season that his conscience was bothering him.
I doubt that's the case.

I think rjh01 has a point...but so? In the end, the only people Randi is turning-off with such comments as calling Montel a "whore" are the true believers to start with.
In the end, Montel he does not believe in psychics but fronts for SB at the drop of a hat.
Even if you were to buy his "I don't think SB is psychic" story, and say he lives in a cave and has never heard or read SBs claims of "psychic ability"...how would he explain giving free media time & hype to "woo woo" such as the "Paranormal State" kids?
In the end, "whore" is a very fitting title for Montel as he'll do anything for a buck.

Montel is such a good showman that he sucks me in sometimes. I really begin to believe that he cares for people and wants to genuinely help them, then he does stuff like support Sylvia and not give the promised help to Opal Jo Jennings family.
He is either a complex person that I cannot understand or else a man without a conscience.
But the Penn State kids??? I just don't know why he would care about their college woo. I wonder if he/his people asked them to be on the show or if they approached him. The only thing that show lacked was Lorraine Warren and Chip Cofffee.

You said it.
I have always had a very hard time understanding how he can be such a seemingly nice man on one hand and so charming and polite in person- he can completely win you over- and on the other hand, participate in evil. Either he's quite a complicated person or the whole thing is a house of cards and he's a snake oil salesman with no conscience whatsoever.
And what he really thinks of Sylvia Browne and her appearances on his show was always complete mystery but my guess now is he just doesn't care and is only in it for the ratings.
What a whore.

Television is being infilitrated by these paranormal shows. I am shocked that channels like Discovery has embraced these shows. I guess "money talks."
And I think Sylvia Browne should run for president. She can predict all the future misfortunes that might fall upon America, and thus prevent them. If thats not a good campaign slogan, I don't know what is!

Yes, telling the truth about stupid people and frauds really helps stupid people and frauds.
