This is an interesting development...

Tampa Televangelists draw Senate scrutiny (http://deepbackground.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2008/03/12/762204.aspx)

<snip>
Two U.S. Senators sent out a new round of letters today to some of the nation’s most high-profile televangelists, urging them to turn over key financial records. The Senators told the ministries that they want to know how their “non-profit organizations are structured and operate,” amid allegations that some of the televangelists have misused church funds to enrich themselves.

It'll be very interesting to see where this investigation leads...

As much as I appreciate the target of their inquiry, this should not be the job of the Senate. Congress should not be spending its time investigating preachermen and baseball players. They should be spending the time, oh I don't know, reading legislation before they vote on it and things like that.

Well, at least if they spend their time working over the televangelist, they are leaving us alone! (Who said "No one is safe when Congress is in session!"? Will Rogers?).
