Below is an easy to read star chart from Star Maps for Beginners which is more than sixty years old yet remains the best and simplest introduction to the skies. It is uncluttered and with no need to understand celestial coordinates. I got my copy in early 1959 when I was on an eighth grade field trip to the Adler Planetarium. It was put to plenty of good use. Seen here is the map for March evenings at mid-northern latitudes.

Cool, I still have my chart, bought in 1973. It is cool as well. the real problem is when you get away from the city and can see two thousand stasr, then i just go "Wow".

Nicely designed!
I like how the projection applies minimal distortion, yet is very easy to understand and use. And the buildings on the horizon aid in providing scale.
Thanks for sharing!

I got a Planisphere (http://www.aboutastronomy.net/starcharts.htm) when I was 12, for my birthday. I need to see if I can find it or else go out and get a new one. Those things are handy.

Great map, thanks a lot for posting it!
sol: I was about to post Google Sky myself. I only tried it once and I'm not into stargazing, but it looks to be a fantastic tool:).

I can't make heads or tails of this. Where's Clint Eastwood's house? That'd be where the map is labeled as "Sirius" (since Clint is such a serious guy).

Very cool, but kind of annoying, maybe it is a bad day today.
