Michael Todd, the chief constable of Manchester, England has been found dead under mysterious conditions.

Apparently he has been investigating reports of 'extraordinary rendition' taking place from the UK.

Coincidence?

According to your link Todd was the one not investigating as throughly as people would like, saying that there was no rendition occurring. Rather shoots the whole CT down before it starts.

However, things may not be as straightforward as you seem to imply:

God knows organized crime has no need to knock him off, either.

Relax and wait for the investigation to complete*.

* I predict that, if it turns out anything but some spy killed him, the CTers wouldn't accept that anyway.
