War is romantic and exciting – as long as it isn’t you or your children dying. I suspect that if Dubya ever actually confronted any danger in his life or even ever had to struggle for anything he wouldn’t find it all quite so “romantic”. He talks about being “envious” of the troops. I imagine more than a few of them would be justified in being envious of him – he having been born into wealth and privilege and opportunity and having been given a free pass in all aspects of life such that most of us can not even imagine it.
I must say, I'm a little envious," Bush said. "If I were slightly younger and not employed here, I think it would be a fantastic experience to be on the front lines of helping this young democracy succeed."
"It must be exciting for you ... in some ways romantic, in some ways, you know, confronting danger. You're really making history, and thanks," Bush said.

If he did then then I'm sure he would find the torture that he applies to others most romantic. After all water torture is not water torture to the torturer in chief.

What is the difference between Jane Fonda, and Dan Quale George W Bush?
Jane Fonda went to Vietnam.
How can he say that when he declined the opportunity to serve in the front line?

If he feels so envious and thankful, perhaps he wouldn't mind providing all those returning from service with the same quality health care and the appropriate psycological counseling, rather than recycling them until they are killed. Perhaps he could show some compassion for the American citizens whose lives he has decimated...
...if he really cared.

Hmmm... my father is only a few weeks younger than Bush. Maybe I should ask him how "romantic" Vietnam was for him. I wonder which Purple Heart was more exciting for my dad, the one where a bullet went clean through his leg, or the one that has left him with a fist-sized scar in his back? I'm sure my dad would be happy to share his "fantastic experience" of being shot, and then going back out when that wound healed, and then being in a tank when it got blown up. Yep, I'm really sure that Bush envied my dad, while Bush was knocking back shots in some rich folks bar, and my dad was fighting just to stay alive for another day.

Bush might be bad, but using non-standard fonts on message boards is worse.

Bush might be bad, but using non-standard fonts on message boards is worse.Really? Is any one else deeply troubled and aghast at the use of "non-standard" fonts in the OP? I realize it may be extremely jarring to those with particularly sensitive sensibilities. As it happens - I cut and pasted it and wasn't going to make a special effort to put it in the appropriate font so as not to discombobulate the more sensitive among us.
