The Libertarians have finally decided on a Free State! And it's not Alaska!

Isn't occupation kind of not a Libertarian thing?

If it works (which I hope it does), New Hampshire will be the most truly liberal state in the union.

Uh, yes, because the Libertarians are the most liberal people on the planet, as everyone here knows.
(Unless you mean something else by 'liberal'. A classical definition perhaps? Instead of the usual 'Conservative vs. Liberal' that permeates this sub-fora?)

"McKinstry of Ann Arbor, Mich., said New Hampshire won because it "boasts the lowest state and local tax burden in the continental U.S., the leanest state government in the country ... a citizen legislature, a healthy job market, "
Healthy job market? Please, New Hampshire just leeches off Massachusetts. PARASITES is what they are.
How can a place wh state owned/control liquor stores be considered "free".
Viva le rum'!

State owned/controlled liquor stores? What's all that about then? I thought such was a feature of socialist nanny states like Sweden and Finland, not the country of the free...

I mean the real definition of liberal, not the perverted "liberal" that was co-opted by you socio-fascists.

I think the whole demonstration would be much more credible if they picked a place with a long history of government entanglement, high taxes, and a crappy economy and transformed that into a thriving area.
Gee. Where could they find that.
I know, here! Almost heaven!! More specifically may I suggest Logan or McDowell county? Lots of mountains, trees, and nice views. I'm sure the locals will welcome newcomers to the political scene.

Though, it's probably a good idea to use the modern definitions that are relevant to our society. Otherwise you just breed confusion.

Y'all have it wrong. Maryland (http://www.mdarchives.state.md.us/msa/mdmanual/01glance/html/nickname.html) is the Free State. :p

Thanks for the advice and I understand what you are saying. But why should I shy away from using the proper words because others are ignorant?

Hardle surprising that they'd pick NH. That was my prediction all along. Their work is already half-done: No state income tax, no state sales tax, and property taxes an order of magnitude lower than comparable areas elsewhere in the country.

Occupation? They're going there to legally acquire residences and jobs and become citizens of the state. How is that occupation?

No. I'm doubtful of their chances of success, and I think I've come too far here at home to stop now.
Mind you, I hope I'm wrong, and NH becomes a truly Libertarian state.

So if someone says a place is a "gay" bar, do you just figure it is a joyous place and go in and start slapping backs?
And when there if someone asks you if you are a "catcher", will you assume they are talking about the bar softball team?
It isn't a question of ignorance. It is a question of context. When discussing modern politics, "liberal" does not mean John Locke.

Actually yeah. Ever been to a gay bar? Most are pretty joyous and you do see a lot of back slapping.
And when there if someone asks you if you are a "catcher", will you assume they are talking about the bar softball team?
Im not familiar with that slang.

I might move there. I've been thinking about going to New Zealand one day because I've heard they're pretty hip, but if NH works out, I might just go there.

Do you a cite for that? This link (http://www.eagletribune.com/news/stories/20010720/NH_008.htm) states that NH has the second highest property taxes in the nation.
I haven't lived there in many years, and am really not up-to-date on how NH balances it budget.

True. Maybe I should have worded it differently. You do see the contextual difference though, eh?

Just trust me. If unsure, ask for clairification. I will say expecting one definition, and winding up with the other would be a bit of a shock, regardless of "what team" you play for....

That's in total revenues, not the tax rate.
