What do you chaps think of this (http://homepage.ntlworld.com/alan-turnbull/secret2.htm#star-wars) bit of Google Earthery? This made our national free rag this morning (The Metro).

IS it for calibrating SAR satellites? IS there anything to suggest this is connected to any missile defence system? My feeling so far is "possibly" and "no way of knowing" respectively.

I think this is at least borderline conspiracy-theory given the Star Wars/SDI claim, but if mods disagree, feel free to move.

Government builds new buildings next to other buildings, then holds massive fair right next to it to help keep it secret. News at 11!

ironically the guy explains exactly what it is in his article, a motorcycle safety instruction range

edit: heres the section of the base, taken from google maps: (note the little strip of asphalt connecting it to a nearby road)

here is page 6 of the PDF he even links to on his page, which he says "seems remarkably similar"

The safety offices in the military try to build these to train the young troops. The accident rate is high; more training. The CT side is funny.

Are they supposed to navigate through the lines without crossing over them or something?

They are a series of overlayed tracks for different tests - a "C" curve, an "S" curve, a parking lot and a straight track from the looks of it.

Here is where I have to admit that I didn't read it well enough to know that :boxedin:

Let this thread serve as a warning to unwary travellers on the road of woo!

I love 'The Metro'. It is free and there is always a couple of semi-woo articles. Anyhow, is the course just used for motorcycles or is it cars as well? Anyone know?
