The iceberg may not have been the only factor that caused the legendary Titanic to sink, according to a materials scientist from the National Institute of Standards and Technology who spoke at UF on Tuesday afternoon.
"It doesn't matter how cold it gets, ice doesn't cut steel," said Timothy J. Foecke, a material scientist in the metallurgy division at NIST, during a graduate seminar.
FACT: The Titanic was built with watertight compartments below decks, and was designed to remain floating after a hull rupture. The designers said, "God Himself could not sink this ship."
FACT: Ice doesn't cut steel.
FACT: The Titanic hull was found in two separate pieces - cut vertically - miles apart from each other on the ocean floor. Running against an iceberg horizontally doesn't cut anything vertically.
FACT: Hours before the Titanic supposedly "sank", first class passengers were loaded into lifeboats. Some were told it was a "drill" while other crew members were saying the ship was going to sink. WHO told the crew the ship was going to sink, and why did they have this magic psychic foreknowledge before the event happened. There were no reports from any qualified shipbuilding engineers that the ship would sink.
FACT: Cunard Lines received a huge insurance settlement.
Some of you Kool-Aid drinkers should start looking at the true facts of the sinking of the Titanic. It was nearly 100 years ago, and the so-called "experts" STILL cannot come up with the definitive and final version of why it sank.

Well, answer me this, mr Smarty Pants... if the water was so cold it had huge blocks of ice in it, how come the whole ocean wasn't iced over? We all know that Ice freezes at 32 degrees, and the iceberg had to have been colder than that, otherwise it would have just been a huge block of liquid floating in the ocean.

Submarines were in the area in the 1990's. They all have video cameras on them, yet we are supposed to believe that in 1918 not a single one got a shot of the sinking? How stupid do they think we are?

For the past ninety-eight years, members of Steven Jones's family have been testing the exoskeleton of a crab found nowhere near the site of the Titanic's sinking for traces of thermite. They have recently updated their announcement, originally issued in 1912, that a breakthrough is imminent. That last update is the 96th.

This is a revival ,with adaptations for 9/11,of a ongoing satire of Holocaust Deniers that was on alt.revisionism and other usenet discussion groups back in the late 90's.
There was a similiar "discussion" about how the Great Famine in Ireland in 1846-1848 never happened, and was a massive hoax to win sympathy for the Irish.

I hate to rain on everyone's parade, but a) there's already a web site (http://www.thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c.cgi?u=af07) that parodies Loose Change with a faux Titanic conspiracy theory, and b) there's been at least one "real" Titanic conspiracy theory around for several years (see here (http://www.titanic-titanic.com/titanic_conspiracy_theory.shtml)).

Hate to inject a measure of real science into what is obviously a parody thread, but: Did anyone know that some researchers are saying that the steel used in Titanic's construction was faulty?
http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9F0CE1DD143DF935A2575AC0A9659582 60
A new analysis by maritime experts has concluded that the disastrous loss of the Titanic was caused not so much by an iceberg as by structural weaknesses in the ship's steel plates that caused them to fail catastrophically.
A better grade of steel, the analysis concludes, would have reduced the extensive fracturing and allowed the ship to remain afloat or to flood more slowly, perhaps saving many lives if rescue ships had arrived before the sinking.
I found that interesting. I sort of remembered that from a History Channel (or was it Discovery?) documentary on that exact topic.
ETA: Note that the link I provided is from 1993. There may be more research on this topic since then. I just haven't bothered to look it up at the moment (waiting for a cab to take me to the mechanics to pick up my car).

OK all you shills, answer these questions:
Why was there a stand-down by the California?
Why did some passengers claim to hear an explosion?
Why did White Star Line increase its insurance of the "unsinkable" Titanic from $7 million to $12.5 million a week before the ship sailed?
Why did J. P. Morgan cancel his berth along with fifty other first-class passengers?
Why was the sister ship, the Olympic, cut up and sold for scrap and no steel samples saved?
How is it possible that another ship, the Niagra, struck an iceberg and sustained damage on the same day, and did not sink?

That 12 Jews faked their own deaths, obviously.
Also keep in mind that the Titanic's lifeboats had enough room for some 1,200 people, yet were loaded to well under capacity. In the end only 700+ people were saved.
So why did the crew arrange for an extra 500 people to die? Did those 500 people know the truth???

All the first-class Jewish passengers were recovered, dead or not, while hundreds of other bodies sank? That's a sure sign of a conspiracy!
Sometimes with lizards it's hard to tell if they're really dead. Did anybody perform autopsies on these "alleged" corpses?

What I find most disturbing about the Titanic cover-up was the 1997 hit-piece called "Titanic."
In it, "Jack Dawson" and "Rose Bukater" (neither of whom are on the passenger list!) fall in love aboard the ship. Jack takes Rose from a first class dining room to a third class party (which wasn't allowed), holds her hand at the very bow of the Titanic (an area off limits to passengers), draws a naked picture of her (no proof of this) and then bangs her in the back seat of a car in the storage hold (again, no proof).
Then when the ship starts to sink, Rose jumps out of a lifeboat and runs through the halls with Jack being shot at by Rose's fiancé.
There is no proof that any of this happened!
Now ask yourself: why is the official story making stuff up and covering up the controlled demolition of the RMS Titanic?
Answer: Joos!

Right you are, Apollo!
The Titanic truth movement picked up on this early on and staged a protest rally in front of White Star's office in London back on November 20, 1916, calling for a new investigation and demanding to see the real Titanic - which at that time was off the coast of Greece having been re-named "Britannic."
White Star knew the game was up, and so the very next day they pulled off yet another demolition and sank the "Britannic" as well - this time blaming the demolition on a "mine" (yeah, right!).
About 30 people on board the ship knew the truth and threatened to tell the world...so they were all placed in two lifeboats and were dropped violently into the water before being sucked into the ship's propellers and torn to pieces.
Everyone else, it appears, was paid off.

But here's the REAL clincher:
In the "History of the Twentieth Century with the Boring Parts Left Out" by David Wallechinsky we read on page 83 that the Titanic sank when it was 1191 miles from NEW YORK CITY. This is a clear prediction of 9/11! The British-style for the date 11th September, 2001 is 11-9-01, which reads, (if you drop the non-number zero), 1191...

The "sinking" of Titanic was completely faked and the ship and its selected victims sent to the Sargasso sea at 19.5 degrees to be offered up to a masonic Soggoth.

The World Health Organisation, ensconced in their secret volcano lair, have been nefariously scheming to take over the world since time immemorial.
FACT: The WHO's murky origins as the Knights Hospitaller, a secret order of fanatical Christian dentists, are steeped in mystery. Hellbent on destroying dentally decadent civilisation as we know it, they discovered a soul flaying, mind crushing, tooth strengthening awesome power through alchemical experimentation in the 11th century. All documents pointing to these facts have been destroyed.
FACT: A hidden message within Dan Brown's The Da Vinci Code reveals the true nature of the WHO and their elaborate facade, the UN, sworn to install a crypto-orthodontic world government, in complete control of the sugar trade. Conforming to an underlying cypher is the only plausible explanation as to how it could appear so monumentally badly written.
FACT: Ice can't cut steel. An experimental lump of frozen solid fluoride, cast adrift in the sea to silently poison our precious bodily fluids, could.
