Yes well... A cross isn't just for Easter y'know.

I'm as hard core an atheist as you will find on this site and I'll state that no one here will villanize a grandmother for giving a cross to her granddaughter.

Go away troll.

Oh no! It's a cross! She will use it as a torture instrument!

Come on, you troll. A cross is a cross. For a christian, it has a short, sweet symbolical sense. For an atheist, it has, too, a symbolical sense (Not to be compared with the point of view with a Christian).

I'm an atheist. I was given a cross for easter many years ago. So what? I was still an atheist and wore it a few times (Until I had a 10-minute shower and the golden paint fell off the cross).

A torture device? Who or what could be crucified on a cross that small?

Maybe I have no sense of humor, or maybe you and your animation of someone being kicked in the groin are inappropriate and would go away in a perfect world. Maybe you are an idiot. Maybe I'm wrong, but maybe I'm not ;)

I don’t think math is really a method of torture. So what, the girl has a plus sign on her neck.
It is not like she’s wearing a dirt multiplication sign. :p

You don't like the avatar? Dude!

There is noting that's ever inappropriate about a kick in the groin, as long as the target is chosen with care.

:)

It's almost time to change it anyway. I'll have to find something else that will tick people off. Maybe I'll go with the Red Sox logo.

Maybe, unbeknownst to you, your niece is having problems with vampires and gramma is just trying to help?

JoeTheJuggler

No. . I think Dahduh was being serious, and most of you misread his post. He didn't say "execution device" but "torture device".

Obviously his niece is a vampire. ;)

ETA: Dern it--I didn't see your post, Babylon Sister, until after I added mine.

Well I'm glad somebody gets it.

Jeez, lighten up guys! I gave her the Skeptic's dictionary, Flim-Flam, and the Cosmos DVD, so I really don't think she's in too much danger.

Oh, and Blue Man Group. Hmm, maybe she is...

If she had gotten a life-sized wood cross, a mallet, and a few iron nail, The OP would have had a point :).

Good for you! Sounds like she needs some indoctrination prevention...

BTW, I thought the post was hysterical. :D

Then again, people usually don't get my sense of humor, either.

I LOVE your avitar:) it's very cool!

Another one of my favs is the one with the one penguin smacking the other penguin knocking him down...

I do realize I have a twisted sense of humor though:boggled:

Not a torture device, just a symbol of one.

I nominate Chimera's Curious George for the unsubtle irony category. Has anyone actually run a 'coolest avatar' competition?

So what's the big deal about this lower case letter T she is wearing?

JoeTheJuggler

So what's the big deal about this lower case letter T she is wearing?

Ah. . .it must stand for "thumbscrew", and thus it is symbol of an instrument of torture. (Or just "torture" for the less imaginative.)

Actually it might not be such a bad thing to keep that around one's neck. It looks like you could use it as a flat-head screwdriver, or maybe to pry open something like a paint can.

My son, who was about 4 at the time, came home from an outing with my (Christian) parents with a little cross necklace one afternoon. I was about to be real upset ... until he asked me how I liked the "t" necklace he had gotten out of the gumball machine.

:D

Btw, I read the OP as being quite snarky. I lol'd.

If it's made of gold then it'd not be much use as a tool. It'd be too bendy!
You can't beat a Swiss Army knife (that has a cross on it too)! :)

I am going through hell right now because people in my life don't wish to hear what is painfully true to me. My mom, the most important person in my life won't talk to me today because she doesn't want to listen to my atheistic beliefs. And believe me, it rarely comes up.

I believed the OP made a joke about what is ruining my life.

Let's not quibble.

It was both. Execution via protracted torture in public, for the purpose of scaring the public into obeying.

It's the best things in life all rolled into one. And the best part? The kind god Yahweh had it planned all along!

I just wish the rapture had happened centuries ago, before that eight day old baby was raped to death er, that 9 year old girl was kidnapped, raped, then wrapped in plastic and given a teddy bear to comfort her as she was buried alive er, before that mentally challenged pregnant 28 year old woman was tortured to death by a family over the course of 3 weeks.

Yahweh, you card! You always know what's best for us! :) :o
