Someone another forum is claiming these as genuine, they were checked and analyzed by someone who(wait for it) had a paranormal website! :p

So your comments.

Apparently, "orbs" have the amazing ability to force amateur photographers to take crappy snapshots using the cameras that come with their $39 cell phones.

Orbs are a result of bad optics, a flash, and fine particulates in the air. Nothing more.

This is so obvious, come on.

1.) Camera strap
2.) Piece of dust
3.) More dust hit by the camera flash
4.) H2 level poltergeist incarnation from a dimension unknown.

Next!

That's the camera strap getting in front of the lens.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...etotheleft.jpg (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v194/Paparazzi/orbcomingtowardmetotheleft.jpg)

That's a piece of dust on the lens.

That's also a piece of dust on the lens.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...mongstmist.jpg (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v194/Paparazzi/orbamongstmist.jpg)

That looks to me like a reflection off of something shiny in the room, such as someone dangling their wristwatch-laden arm in a sunbeam, combined with a long exposure due to the room being dark.

ETA: Damn, kosai beat me. But notice we came up with much the same diagnoses.

The first "orb" I ever experienced was a few years back. We were taking photos in what was supposedly a haunted cave (Bell Witch cave.. they modeled the storyline for Blair Witch based on this IIRC). In the view-finder it looked very odd.. got them back to my PC where we could look at them full-size.

Still looked a bit odd, so I did some research and what do you know.. several pictures and videos producing almost the exact same results with simple dust or snow.

We were a bit weirded out at first glance, and I think thats where most of the claims of something paranormal come from... people get that first eerie feeling and then run with it.

Better than just describing these I decided to go on a ghost hunt on my own. You might want to submit my findings to the paranormal researcher. These were all done using only the camera, no post production work was needed to create these effects.

I'm not home, so I can't post it, but I have a wonderful orb picture taken with my cheap digicam. It was so juicy that the lately banned "historian," an expert on the genre, declared it a genuine paranormal bigfoot orb. Isn't it an amazing coincidence that the age of orbs so closely follows the age of point and shoot cameras that default to daylight flash?

Forget the paranormal researcher and just send them to Montel:

Kosai: Sylvia Browne, what is that pink stuff on my couch?

Sylvia Browne: That's pink ectoplasm, of course.

On the plus side, thanks to orbs you can now feel good about an otherwise ruined photo. Hmmm... how much woo have people been able to cram into a single photograph?

"As you can clearly see that is Bigfoot riding Nessie on top of a pyramid shaped flying saucer."
"What? Where? You mean behind the lensflare?"
"Lensflare!? That's the orb of quantum light surrounding the spiritual guides of Bigfoots guardian angels!"

Check out what is on the television in the last photo, Derek Acorah.
Big suprise there.

Orbs boggle the mind. Well at least the level of stupidity required for their belief does.

yeah, then I will show her how to use a long exposure on a camera and draw with a laser pointer. ;)

Making ghost photos is kind of fun, you don't know how they will look until you download them to your computer. Now I understand why people do it.

Are you asking me?

You mean before or after I use the Ouija board to invoke the demons of the underworld to manifest themselves on my couch?

Long exposure (a couple of seconds) and then wave around with a torch/bright LED/laser pointer in front of the lens. If you can't use a boom, wear dark clothes and keep moving while in frame.

It has already become a kind of photographic art. Go to Google and search for light painting. You will find some very amazing pictures.

Now if someone could just photoshop onto the orb an angel holding the Stop Sylvia Browne logo.

"Is that an angel?" Sylvia (who always seems to agree with this): "Yes, of course it is. Yes, see, it's from the funeral home. And she's holding an, er..." :D

I know, it would never make it onto the show! Too bad because that would be worth seeing.

Yeah he nailed it.

I do a 4 second exposure with the aperture set high. The grayish "ghost" is using a sock. The red is a laser pointer. The bright white is a keychain flashlight. Here's some I did with sparklers:
