Kuwaiti security authorities have foiled an attempt to smuggle $60 million worth of chemical weapons and biological warheads from Iraq to an unnamed European country, a Kuwaiti newspaper said on Wednesday.
The pro-Government Al-Siyassah, quoting an unnamed security source, said the suspects had been watched by security since they arrived in Kuwait and were arrested "in due time." It did not say when or how the smugglers entered Kuwait or when they were arrested.

The paper said the smugglers might have had accomplices inside Kuwait. It said Interior Minister Sheik Nawwaf Al Ahmed Al Sabah would hand over the smuggled weapons to an FBI agent at a news conference, but did not say when.

Government officials could not be immediately reached for comment.

Iraqi Interior Minister Nouri Al-Badran met on Tuesday with Sheik Nawwaf and discussed cooperation between the two countries in security matters. His visit is the first by an Iraqi interior minister to Kuwait since 1990.

I rather think the interim report on the search for WMD would have been delayed had there been any truth in this. A Kuwaiti newspaper reporting a single unnamed security source. Somebody trying to be helpful in a very clumsy manner?

it's amazing that this story hasn't been picked up by Fox, CNN, etc........

has anyone seen it anywhere else ?

you'd think this would be just a wee bit of an important report.

I also think this might just be a slightly important newsbite. I would wait for serious comment and verification...

It could be complete BS. I don't think I have to remind everyone that it would not be the first "we've found the WMD" story since invading Iraq to turn out to be complete horse hockey*.

That is OK, I have not been holding my breath.

However, it has been over 24 hours now and there is still no confirmation of this report that I have been able to find.

I think this statement above is the reason for poster's skepticism.

I'm glad you're on top of this, NTW.

I've seen a similar story on the prestigious Worldnetdaily's website. On another forum I tried searching for the article and offered the following summary:

The top headline screams: "National Enquirer to accuse Rush of 'drug abuse'" There's a "breaking news" gif flashing next to it.

After the advertisement for Ann Coulter's ode to Mycarthyism there's a headline (in even bigger text, if that's possible): "U.S. Communists to support Dems"

The next story says "Sex-in-cathedral suspect drops dead" (also "breaking news").

Then there's some apparently original investigative reporting from the universally respected Worldnetdaily: "WND probe reveals global explosion of anti-Semitism." Interesting.

I'll spare you, kind reader, the other headlines. Scroll past the one that says "Who Really Killed JFK" (I'm not making this sh*t up) and the "special offer" to get an autographed copy of David Limbaugh's book. You should find the "Kuwait foiled" story.

Holy sh*t, not only has the liberal media elite skipped the WMD story -- they're completely ignoring Rush's addiction to pain killers.

I'm looking at the WND's site again and I can't seem to find the story at all. I could find the original link if you want. But if you're looking for slightly more accurate reports from the middle east, I suggest you travel to a public park and see what's scrawled above the urinals. Even if the political information there is false you can always call Robert "for the best blow-jobs in town."

Just a thought.

The Hindustan Times article cites AP as their source.

AP never released that article.

How can people be so cruel as to make up stuff like this? I want my smoking gun dammit! :)
