This is fairly misleading. While he may choose to be identified as male, and I understand the politics of that choice, the fact is that he is genetically a female.

Intriguing gender identity situation. Regarding this comment by Beatie:
To Nancy, I am her husband and carrying our child. I will be my daughter's father and Nancy will be her mother. We will be a family.
And Canadian ethicist, Margaret Somerville's response:
"Where I would do a reversal on this is to say, 'You've artificially made yourself a man.
"You're not a man, you're a woman and you're having a baby and you're actually having your own baby.'" I would say that Somerville's statement is accurate but still since they will both be parents it's natural for Beatie to say 'our child' if not in the biological sense.
Part of the social issue I think about is when the child gets to the age where the questions come, how does Beatie explain the 'You came from Daddy's tummy' part?
Gender issues are often tricky. In this case we can say "you're a woman." but it is not always so clear.
I'm also led to wonder a little about the validity of someone who's never had a penis calling themself a man or if it even matters. Tough stuff.

Well, biologically he's not a man. Mentally, he is. So we have the same old debate about what defines gender, and maybe it gets a little heated.
Meanwhile, assuming that there are no hormone-induced ill-effects on the child, a happy kid is born into a happy, loving family.

So the baby is a girl but I can't help but wonder if it were a boy and a couple years after the baby is born and Daddy and junior are having a bath together and junior's thinking "So am I the only one with this pee pee thing? Daddy, where's your pee pee?"
Also later in life how does a man who is genetically and essentially physically a woman and has never understood the biological reality of being a man relate to a son on subjects where such experience is necessary?
A pointless 'what if?' maybe.

So who's the daddy?
Last I knew two women can not produce a child, even if one surgically removes her breasts and sports facial hair!

The father is carrying the child. The mother is unable to concieve, so this was the solution.
Is the story true?
From all appearances, yes.

How do single mothers do it?

How do single mothers do it?Male relatives and family friends in my experience. And if you were really lucky you had an elementary with really liberal sex education policies. Looking back I can't believe the stuff they let us ask.:D

Man in pregnant.
After all the years and instances of screwing by the IRS, it is no surprise that a seed finally took root. The marvel is that it took so long.

Same way most women do, when the urge arises: a hard man is good to find.

A pointless 'what if?' maybe.Lack of an "all bells and whistles" male carer for the child is hardly something unique about this situation.

You are the first to raise errectile function as a requirement for teaching boys to be men.

The hormone treatments of testostrone when there's a full set of female gonads, but is also the only set of gonads, may actually produce a hermaphrodite capable of self-fertilization considering both male and female sets of gammets are present in the same set of gonads.

Its more likely the plumbing job was faulty and he/she was impregnated by another man.

Man is pregnant. Man remains pregnant. And we have impregnated him. How shall we comfort ourselves, the impregnators of all impregnators? And don't give me that hackneyed line that Man is actually a Woman, that's just too convenient.

I was just basically refering to the docs who say this can happen...rather than whether or not this whoot is for real...but hypothetically, if these people are being honest, then this is how that can happen.

I've actually read about this situation occuring before - a female-to-male transgender person who had not completed surgery bearing a child. Far as I can recall, there were no problems with the birth from the hormone treatments.
What no one has said is what an amazing, loving sacrifice this guy has made in interrupting his transition and doing something so unavoidbaly 'female' in order that they can have a child. If the option were available, I wonder how many genetic men would be willing to bear a child for their infertile partner?

Apparently, according to the british papers, the wife got out the old turkey baster, after a sperm bank visit.
