I was rather fond of RSS newsfeeds and similar but have neglected them in recent years so now it's about time I got updated.

Podcasts are all well and good (I have subscribed to a few) but, for some reason, they have never floated my particular boat. This may change...

I would like your favourites that are in keeping with the JREF and other lurkers/members may be interested too.

What I don't want is a link to pages that list loads of feeds/podcast etc. but ones that you actually subscribe to and really regularly read.

Comments on each one would be nice but not essential.

I don't want ones that you just dip into occasionally or keep because they look good to some imaginary person that might be impressed by your RSS list and have sex with you. ;)

Obscure and specialist feeds could be fun as well. I might actually learn something.... It could happen.... Probably.

Ta!

I have many websites that are based on RSS feeds, some of these in turn create their own RSS aggregate feeds by filtering and combining other feeds. You might find one or more of these interesting:

UnFox News (http://UnFoxNews.com/)
Leaping Dolphin (http://LeapingDolphin.com/)
Teh Gays (http://TehGays.com/)

One fun tip I picked up recently - if you are looking for anything via Craigslist, run your search, and then look at the bottom of the page. There will be a link where you can RSS-feed your search. That way you'll always see the new listings popping up.

Maybe everyone knows this, but I didn't, and I find it quite handy.

So few ... Is RSS "So last week" now?

Thanks for the CraigList tip and, although not given in the post but in the sig, Party of Jesus was funny.

The Party of Jesus blog has been conceived, designed, implemented, hacked, and promoted by a militant atheist fag living with his queer husband in gay Palm Springs, California.

If you are afflicted with religious beliefs, and you find this site offensive, we suggest you visit some other site.

If you are not afflicted with religion, and you enjoy a good laugh, we hope you do find this site entertaining and informative.

We are a Christian political party, our values include invading foreign countries based on a pack of lies, torturing innocent prisoners in secret prisons and in Cuba, and winning elections by appealing to your fear of a Queer Planet. We accept campaign donations from companies that profit from wars. How are we doing?

:D

Ben Goldacre's BadScience blog is a good read. It's UK-centric but does a very good job of dispelling much of the media hype about clinical trials.

In a similar vein there is Prof. David Colquhoun's Improbable Science.

For amusement there is the mighty XKCD.

Agatha Heterodyne - Girl Genius (http://www.girlgeniusonline.com/ggmain.rss). I love Phil and Kaja Foglio... and large breasted red heads who wears glasses. <swoon>

FFFFound.org (http://feeds.feedburner.com/ffffound/everyone). Careful as many of the images are NSFW.

Smartkit Puzzles and Brainteasers (http://feeds.feedburner.com/SmartKit). If the puzzle section of this forum gives you headaches, avoid this site!

Since I also posted some of my design blogs on another forum this morning, I'll repost them here as well. Keep in mind that unless you are into the whole graphic design thing, you probably won't be reading these feeds too often.

The Design Encyclopedia
http://feeds.feedburner.com/thedesignencyclopedia
Over the course of five years — starting in the Gold Rush era of blogs — UnderConsideration has launched four sites — Speak Up, Brand New, Quipsologies, and The Design Encyclopedia — that have been part of the growing dialog in design and the broad appreciation of the practice made possible by the reach of the web. Speak Up was the first major design blog to capture the attention of designers around the country and the world with spirited discussions; Brand New grew out of the popularity of reviewing rebranding efforts by a myriad of companies and it now covers an even broader range of work as a dedicated site; Quipsologies was a response to the increasing source of creativity found online and the desire to bring the most relevant to our readers; and The Design Encyclopedia was built on the need for cataloguing the impact of design in our lives.
