No, really! (http://premium1.fosters.com/2003/news/sep%5F03/september%5F28/news/reg%5Fma%5F0928a.asp)

These bush-league psychics and astrologers need to learn not to predict an event until after it happens...

(I thought about posting it in sports, but any predictions that the sox will win definitely belong in paranormal.)

"Astrology as a predictive tool is really based on cycles," she said, adding the Curse of the Bambino — which has been the subject of plays, books and a new documentary produced by actor Ben Affleck on HBO — "is astrological."

I think you really just wanted us to know about Affleck's production. :)

When asked how she believes the team will do this year, Spitzer said her initial psychic flash indicated, "I think they’re going to come close."

Sorry baby, 0-2 ain't close.

Poor Bill Buckner, who had more hits than any other player between 1970 to 1980, is remembered only for one bad hop. Worse, he is blamed for the Red Sox losing the 1986 Series, even though it was a total team collapse. They were winning by 3 runs at the start of that inning. And it was only game 6... The Curse of the Scapegoat...

Well, it's 2 - 2 now. That could be considred "close". All the predictors hedged with language that would let them off the hook regardless of the outcome. But no details, predicted scores, or just what do they mean by "close".

My anus is firmly planted on the couch during games. Should I move my anus?

I'd suggest moving it before your bowels get moved again.

I've heard of a slightly different prediction:

The degree of your hopes in the Red Sox are directly proportional to the proximity between your head and Uranus.

Now that the Red Sox won the first round, and it was close, the woo woos will be claiming they were right even if the Yankees beat them easily in round 2...

I'll bet that just as many psychics predicted Oakland would win.

Maybe it was the "Curse of the A". Seems that teams that start with an "A" (as in Atlanta and Athletics) have a history of failure in the playoffs...

Or the "Curse of Canseco". Since the A's traded Canseco they haven't reached the World Series....
