Okay... fully admitting that I may be trying to hard to locate the definition or etymology of "stundie" while enjoying the effects of my good friend Mr. Jim Beam... but damnit... I'm at a loss.

Help me out... what is a stundie?

Stundie is/was a troother with a penchant for making some very, very boneheaded statements. His laughable errors were so numerous that the term 'stundie' was coined in celbration of the many, many boneheaded statements troothers make. We now have a monthly contest to find the best 'stundie'.

Stundie was an old member who made continuously stupid posts. He was ridiculed enough to where they made an award based on him.

Unless you are asking for what a stundie is...then nevermind me.

I think that was Malcolm Kirklord. He was better than Stundie.

Stundie still posting at Loose Change and Screwloose Change.

I like your good friend. He's visiting my house tonight. He won't leave.

malcolm kirkman. He convinced the mods to let him change his nick to Somerled after Rolfe and I exposed his claim to be a retired businessman with "loadsa dosh" as a sham. He was close to stundie, I grant you, and I initially favored changing the name of the stundie award to the kirkman award, but after I was directed to some of stundie's "greatest hits," I changed my mind.

And for those unfamiliar, Malcolm did win the stundie of the year for 2007 for his "air pressure as a source of gravity" howler.

I remember that thread! As I recall, it turned out that he’d lost a court case because he was “unable to make any sense” (or something along those lines) and that he lived on the outskirts of Manchester with a fellow named Rodger.

Incidentally, where can this “Best of Stundie” be found?

Why don't we have other awards, besides the Stundie? Kind of like Andrew Sullivan has on his blog. http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/the_daily_dish/awards.html

I love to see the Avery. Or the Jim Fetzer, Kevin Barrett or Judy Woods Award. HAve nominees all throughout the year. It would be great.

Good luck finding the poor sap to organise more awards! :p

For those who missed it, here's the lovely plaque that Kirkman won for his effort.

Given the numerous reference to the term, I had thought there was some hidden meaning in an acronym of some sort.

Stundie is famous for such quotes as this one (http://screwloosechange.xbehome.com/index.php?s=&showtopic=1443&view=findpost&p=10179):

It was proven that the earth was flat years ago and that you could fall off the edge.

If you weren't posting or reading on SLC back in January '07...you really missed out.

This was in there too...

Truth does change if there enough FACTS to support a new idea of what truth!! Pluto was considered a planet, so if I asked you 10 years ago Fact or Fiction that Pluto was planet, you would have said Yes.

Same link you gave. I just realized, I think I argued with Stundie before. I think he may have been the first truther I argued with (years ago) when I was still in high school. It was my first encounter with the truth movement too. It was on a System of a Down fan site.

Used this exact same argument. Made some of the most absurdly stupid comments I'd ever seen. It has to be the same guy.

eta: I basically had this exact same argument, with that poster. I think it might be the same guy. I'll go check out the archives of that other site to see what I come up with....

ETA: Been looking at the old posts. Found this one. From a poster known as "Mnky" who I suspect may be Stundie.

The building came down way to fast. Enough said. Anyone who knows physics knows that building came down way too fast. The weight of the top of the building WOULD NOT crush the bottom of the building. Last time i checked the bottom of the building was holding that wieght for years
Sound like Stundie to anyone?

This gem as well
ehh...believe what you want, but in no way is thinking the government was behind 9/11 a "CONSPIRACY".
Nope...it's a logical explanation.

Frankly I wish I wasn't aware of the concept of stundies.

My overall view of humanity was much higher before I was aware of the stundies.
