Just back from seeing Tim Minchin's live show here in NYC, and it was great! There are few performers in the world who challenge homeopathy, god and psychics, much less all in one song (Goto http://www.timminchin.com/media/ and listen to If You Open Your Mind Too Much Your Brain Will Fall Out (Take My Wife)).

And the show seemed to work for a general audience, too, and the music is great... Go see this show, it closes this weekend! The good folks at NYC Skeptics arranged a discount:
Special discount on Tim Minchin tickets

Noted comedian, skeptic, and self-proclaimed "rock 'n' roll megastar" Tim Minchin has graciously offered New York City Skeptics friends and members a $10 discount on his New York City performances!

"Articulate, thoughtful, dry and unashamedly polysyllabic… dark irreverent and talented… excellent, provoking, funny." (The Age, Melbourne)

“He plays like an angel, sings like the rock star he always wanted to be and has a devil of a sense of humour. This is an extraordinary performer.” (The Scotsman, Edinburgh)

When: Performances through April 11, 2008

Where: New World Stages / Stage 5

340 West 50th Street (Between 8th and 9th Avenues)

To purchase tickets at the discounted rate go to www.broadwayoffers.com and enter promotional code TMTCEM8.

About Tim Minchin:

Hailed as "the next big thing in the U.S." and "an immensely talented musician," Australian-born Tim’s performances are described as "one of the funniest and most amazing shows you'll ever see."

Minchin launched onto the world comedy scene in 2005 with "Darkside," which won the Perrier Comedy Award for Best Newcomer at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. His second show "So Rock," earned both Most Outstanding Show and the Festival Directors' Award at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. He was also awarded Best Alternative Performance at the Aspen Comedy Festival in 2007.

I can thoroughly recommend seeing him.

The Tank also did an interview with Minchin, which can be seen here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fABcXf_j4vw). Check it out!

I already doubted that I would be able to attend the show. It looks like my doubts were true, unfortunately.
