Am I correct in assuming that, like last time this was done, a series of slots are going to be auctioned serially? I.e. after this 7-day auction, another one will go up, and so on, until "x" slots are sold? (I think there were 12 slots last time).

Just trying to understand how aggressive I should be, should I bid.

This is correct... Sort of. There are multiple slots, but the winning bidder on an auction of a single slot can opt to purchase multiple seats at the same price as the winning bid.

So, if whoever wins says they want twelve tickets instead of one, and they are willing to pay twelve times the winning bid to get them, then this will be the only auction.

Oh, thanks! I didn't realize a winning bid could buy more than two, but I see now the wording on the auction does imply that.

I am assuming this is NOT tax deducable?

Actually, I believe it is. We went on the Brunch at Teller's House trip a couple years ago and were able to deduct that as a charitable contribution.

Minus the value of the lunch, of course. ;)

Has any thought ever been given to having these lunches on Sunday? I have never bid in the past, nor am I likely to this time, because I don't want to miss any of the great speakers at the conference. I don't recall which TAM it was, but something interesting happened and I remember thinking to myself, "Wow, had I gone on that lunch, I would have missed this!".

Move it to Sunday (too late for this year), and I'll happily bid.

This is a really great point. It seems like this lunch will take up the majority of Saturday afternoon at TAM. Then again, many of the TAM attendees will be leaving Sunday afternoon, so the potential pool of Penn lunch attendees will be reduced. I guess it is a choice between the lesser of two evils for JREF.

I didn't want to waste a thread raising this topic and this one could use a bump (bid early and bit often) so I'm posting it here... but have any of you seen anywhere on the 'Net Penn's reaction to being included in TV Guide's weekly Astrology BS?

TV Guide runs a weekly horrorscope column and, while I find it interesting to see the birthdays/ages of stars (Elle Macpherson turned 45 on March 29th???), I can't imagine Penn was happy to be included in this astrological nonsense.

If Penn reacts to it, he'll probably do it on his video blog "Penn Says" on Crackle:

http://crackle.com/c/Penn_Says/

There's a feedback option on there, ask him about it. Come to think of it, we need to get him to plug the auctions on there!

Ack. I'm really tempted to bid on the remaining tour.

We've put up one of the tickets as a "Buy it Now" on eBay for folks who don't like to sit at their computers watching a particular auction in case in the final second someone bids against them.

Check it out:
