Straitjacket

I am not a magician; I teach psychology. I always wanted a straitjacket as an attention-getter for a large lecture class. Perhaps it is in bad taste, but I have been kicking the idea around for years. Anyway, where might one buy a straitjacket? I have asked mental health practicioners for years, with no luck. Thought I'd try magicians...

Several magic sellers on the web sell them -- but IIRC they're running about $300 per. If you can find a different source, it might pay to look around.

"humanerestraint.com" used to have them, but it looks like the link is dead. . . . I'll take a quick look around and see if I can remember who else had one.

Edited to add: Non-serious straitjackets that are made just for looks (which seems what you need) - and are a lot cheaper - can be made for you by a lady magician whose name I have seen around: her email is prestolady -at- aol.com. You can find her (Margarette) posting some on about.com's magic and illusion forum.

I would also recommend a hospital style device. Posey is a very reputable company that sells a wide variety of devices, including straitjacket-type restraints, but I believe they are restricted from selling to individuals. Most companies in the US probably (I'm guessing) are restricted that way and will sell only to medical facilities.

Still, a google search on restraints, medical, safety, et al would help. Or search on Posey and see what other links you can find.
