I was given a copy of the book Everything You Know About God is Wrong (http://www.amazon.com/Everything-Know-About-Wrong-Disinformation/dp/1932857591/ref=pd_sim_b_title_6), as a gift a month ago. I hardly read any of it, yet, but it seems to convey legit information, even with its anarchist/punk style-flair.

Out of morbid curiosity, I started perusing the other books in the series, and found them to be more of a mixed bag of facts and hard-nosed "almost facts", so far.

The first book, Everything You Know Is Wrong: The Disinformation Guide to Secrets and Lies (http://www.amazon.com/Everything-You-Know-Wrong-Disinformation/dp/0971394202/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1208394055&sr=8-1), also seems (on quick perusal) legit enough. However, the others have more dubious entries.

For example, the book You Are Being Lied To: The Disinformation Guide to Media Distortion, Historical Whitewashes and Cultural Myths (http://www.amazon.com/You-Are-Being-Lied-Disinformation/dp/0966410076/ref=pd_bxgy_b_img_b), claims to debunk the Big Bang Theory; Abuse Your Illusions: The Disinformation Guide To Media Mirages And Establishment Lies (http://www.amazon.com/Abuse-Your-Illusions-Disinformation-Establishment/dp/0971394245/ref=pd_sim_b_img_2) claims that Panama was created as a "get rich quick scheme" by Wall Street; and a few of the books seem to convey the idea that there might have been a 9/11 conspiracy within our own government.

What does everyone else think of this series of books?

I'd like to help you but unfortunately everything I know about these books is wrong.

Firesign Theatre had an album called "Everything you know is wrong".

I think they were right.

There was a disinfonation TV programme on Channel 4 (UK) a few years back. I thought it was very entertaining. It had an interview with Robert Anton Wilson this turned me into a fan. I have not read the books but will now look out for them. Thanks for the heads up.

I think they were right."Weird Al" Yankovic has a song called "Everything You Know Is Wrong", on his Bad Hair Day album.

But, I'm looking to collect opinions of the books, not music. Thanks!

IIRC, Carl Sagan once said that the hallmark of a good scientist was one who was happy to admit that everything he knew was wrong.

I don't know the books though.

Upon further perusing of the book, I no longer think the book
Everything You Know Is Wrong: The Disinformation Guide to Secrets and Lies is all that "legit".

I failed to remember that this was one of the books with some of the 9/11 conspiracy stuff in it.

Lousy memory! I gotta pay more attention to this tripe!

Anyone else, who has seen these books, care to share an opinion?

They can be fun, but a lot of it is just more of the same Conspiracy Theory Crap.

Most of the folks in the NYC Drinking Skeptically seem to agree.
(Yes, I did end up going there.)

I really liked the little "50 Things You're Not Supposed To Know" books, but I was really dissapointed when I read the bigger books as they're full of woo.

Their book "Underground!" promotes some really bizarre forms of creationism and features Erich von Däniken among other nuts. They also published Jim Marrs' book on 9/11 conspiracy theories.

I am convinced that the vast majority of right-thinking people are wrong.

I am convinced that the vast majority of right-thinking people are wrong. If that's the case, I'd hate to know what wrong-thinking people are like.

I've read Everything You Know is Wrong and You are Being Lied To. While there's some interesting and worthwhile information in them, they are extremely biased and almost every article tells the most provocative part of a story without examining all the evidence. They're good as jumping-off points for further research but should be read with a whole box of salt.

OT: I read Marrs' book Alien Agenda. It is a very long, very crazy book, but the long and short of it is that Marrs believes that every possible CT out there, from the Lincoln assaination, to JFK/RFK/Marylin, to the Roosevelt coup attempt, to the Federal Reserve, and NAFTA, just to name a few, are part of the alien agenda to take over the world. Forget big banking interests! It's aliens all the way down!

Alien Agenda was published before 9/11. Do aliens figure in Marrs' 9/11 theories? OMG! Does this mean Judy Wood was right?:D /OT
