I have a problem with files being cloned. When I browse files in a folder, after a while some files have cloned into two, one of them renamed ****.***(1) They seem to be identical, exept for the last (1)
I recently re-installed Win XP, could it have something to with this? Or is this an evil virus?
My brother had a similar virus a couple of years ago, but he just had to run Norton Antivirus to get rid of it. When I run NAV it comes up with nothing...
Solution, anyone?
Thanks

Sounds more like a sticky mouse key than a virus. In XP, if you drag & drop a folder it will make a copy of the folder (though, IIRC, it usually names it Copy Of ProgramName rather thant (1)).
If you're concerned about a virus, run a different virus scanning utility. Trend Micro has a good one online at http://www.antivirus.com; it's always nice to have multiple engines scanning your machine. Especially if the virus is written to disable one.
You may also want to do a search for Spybot Search & Destroy and smack any spyware that may be on your machine.

Thanks, I tried your suggestions, but they wouldn´t find anything either. I was thinking that maybe it has got something to do with the system restore feature in Win XP, but I´ve turned it off...?
I also scanned for virus with Panda Antivirus, found nothing. Hmmm... it seems to be that after I´ve opened a folder, and leave the folder open without doing anything, after a while there will be those files that ends with (1) again. ??? They just show up, no action taken.
Thanks for your help, anyway. By the way, Showme, are you a might & magic fan? (your avatar...)
