The point is not that he's famous in himself - he's c-list at best. It's that Scientology sees him as a celebrity - one of their elite as far as the public face of the organisation goes. They treat them with kid gloves, they have it far easier than Public, Staff, OSA, or Sea Org scientologists. They get all of the fluffy feel-good nonsense and very little of the oppression.

He's the only "celebrity" Scientologist to defect, and he's further verifying (in a contemporary context) everything we already knew about them. That someone who gets the very best Co$ has to offer defects, you know there's something up. That's the story here.

he has been in a ton of stuff, look at his IMDB. i am not saying he is tom hanks, but it is tough to have a long career in hollywood. not really relevant to his commentary, but i didn't want his career to be bashed without a little someone giving props to a lot of hard work.

About the only show he hasn't been on is Law & Order, which is surprising considering how many character actors they go through in a season.

Almost every New York actor with any kind of career has a Law & Order credit or two. Not so much the LA ones. It's the hip-hop east coast/west coast battle all over again.
