Rocky Twyman has a radical solution for surging gasoline prices: prayer.
Twyman - a community organizer, church choir director and public relations consultant from the Washington, D.C., suburbs - staged a pray-in at a San Francisco Chevron station on Friday, asking God for cheaper gas. He did the same thing in the nation's Capitol on Wednesday, with volunteers from a soup kitchen joining in. Today he will lead members of an Oakland church in prayer.
Yes, it's come to that.
"God is the only one we can turn to at this point," said Twyman, 59. "Our leaders don't seem to be able to do anything about it. The prices keep soaring and soaring."

At least the guy says that the praying people also have an obligation to do something practical like drive less.

Maybe he'll intelligently design watermelons filled with gasoline, to replace some species that went extinct in Brazil last year.

Makes sense when you think about it. Every time I pass a gas station and see the prices I shout, "Jesus Christ!"

Maybe this could be billed as the deathmatch between god and allah. He's praying to his god for lower prices, oil producers are prayin' to allah to keep that money rolling in. Last god that can still afford to fill the tank on his Rolls Royce is the winner!

If the prayers of millions of Catholics every Sunday for 50-60 years couldn't convert Soviet Russia, what's the chances of a few praying for something a bit more selfish getting noticed?
A few million prayers by those having a very personal interest in just staying alive failed to save the "Chosen People" from the "Final Solution", also.

On oil, I think the big plan is to drain the Middle East of its oil, then abandon it and all the insanity there.
The Arab economies will collapse when they can't pay the "guest workers" who run the place anyway follow the money away to the untapped oil fields.
Then it's back to the camel and all that sand.

Ironically, if God exists, and Wants Us To Take Care Of The Earth, then we are honor-bound to trash it as much as possible, as quickly as possible.
I say this world is idiotic, and God is a thug for forcing us into a reality where people can hurt each other so much.
So let's trash it all so everyone's dead so God can get on with a proper design, rather than this idiotic one!

Hmmm....God decides to intervene. Every motor vehicle on the face of the Earth is suddenly turned into a bicycle....

You know, I have wondered what would happen if we;
1. Reduced the speed limit on city streets to 10 mph for all motorized traffic.
2. Gave away as many free bicycles as people want.

I'm surprised they didn't light candles around the pumps as an offering and get an immediate, sudden response to their prayers.

So if gas prices continue to rise, I can blame these people for not praying hard enough?
