View Full Version : Remarkable idiocy - 'It is 1939 all over again'

Here's a Counterpunch article (http://www.counterpunch.org/roberts04292008.html), so extreme that Alex Jones has reposted it (http://prisonplanet.com/articles/april2008/300408Morphs.htm) over at his nuthouse PrisonPlanet site. Astonishingly it's by the former Assistant Secretary of the Treasury in the Reagan administration, who has presumably lost his marbles somewhat since then.
It is 1939 all over again. The world waits helplessly for the next act of naked aggression by rogue states. Only this time the rogue states are not the Third Reich and Fascist Italy. They are the United States and Israel.
The targeted victims are not Poland and France, but Iran, Syria, the remains of the Palestinian West Bank and southern Lebanon.
The American mass media is overjoyed. War coverage attracts viewers and sells advertising.
The neoconservatives are ecstatic. Hegemony uber alles is back on track.
The US Air Force can’t wait “to show what it can do.”
Defense contractors see no end of the profits.
Under cover of the mayhem and propaganda, Israel can grab the remains of the West Bank and have another go at grabbing the water resources of southern Lebanon.
My general rule is that if someone compares the Bush Administration or Israel to Nazi Germany then they are in conspiracy nut territory and/or incapable of reasonable discourse. Any thoughts?

Here's a Counterpunch article (http://www.counterpunch.org/roberts04292008.html)
That's as far as I got into the post. Is there any real need to read further?

When they rush to go live in these wonderful, unoppressed areas, leaving evil places like the US and Israel, then I'll listen.
Those places could stand for an invasion to free them, if the US didn't bungle things so badly. One doesn't need the permission of dictators to free people.

Nothing to see here.

We'll see how it works out after a few years of huge inflation and economic recession.

Paul Craig Roberts is most entertaining. I think he's mad at GW Bush for squandering what Roberts views as America's gains that the GOP earned/crafted/facilitated under Reagan. Roberts worked in the upper levels of Treasury when Reagan was president.
He's getting old and crotchety, and seems to me to be taking counsel of his fears. He forms his rants around some decent analysis now and again, but cannot avoid "the sky is falling" before he finishes an essay.
IIRC, he posts on Lew Rockwell frequently. I've seen some of his articles on antiwar.com as well.

Wow. I came over there to post this nonsense from the "Iron Man" board at Internet Movie Data Base over here and was wondering where to put it. This looks like the perfect spot.
This movie has been made with the sole purpose of brainwashing those people who love comic book film adaptations (like me and millions others) into believing that muslims are "evil terrorists", as shown by the fact that, even though the original comic book has nothing to do with politics and much less with the "War On Terror" (aka War For Oil), the story in the film has been transplanted to Afghanistan and has an "evil Arab terrorist" as the big baddy, when in reality the baddies are the imperialist genocidal US forces that are not only invading Iraq and Afghanistan, but also attempting to exterminate their populations through thousands of "suicide bombings" which target hundreds of civilians and are actually massacres done by the Americans and their friends the Israelis, plus also using biochemical, bacteriological and even nuclear-impregnated weapons to get rid of as many inhabitants as possible, so that it would become easier to control both countries.
Iraq has the second biggest reserves of oil in the world, while a pipeline built after the invasion of Afghanistan crosses this country and carries oil from Kazajstan (since 911 yet another puppet of the US and Israel) to the Pakistani (also puppets) port of Karachi, from where it's sent to the West.
But why should this be surprising when the creators are as follows:
stan lee - romanian jew
Larry Lieber - american jew
Jack Kirby - austrian jew
plus
director -
Jon Favreau - italian jew
and
producer -
Avi Arad - israeli jew
For those with no brain, it's important to indicate that only zionist jews are allowed to work on Holywood, as the latter is just a propaganda machine for the White House and Israel, and nothing gets done by a big studio (and definitely not a movie costing $186 million dollars like Ironman) without Washington giving the green light. None of the 10% plus Jews which are not zionists are allowed to even work in Holywood at all, as they are all blacklisted (like the great Noam Chomsky and Norman Finkelstein, which talk about the true face of Israel and the US government: genocidal fanatics (read them if you want to know the truth, or if you have a conscience, before giving your money to the *beep* that made this film.
This is just a trowback to the times of that b****rd US President Ronald Regan, when Holywood's sole objective was to brainwash everyone with right-wing imperialist zionist bulls**t, and unfortunately it's becoming the norm again (Vantage Point, anyone?).
If you really believe this is for entertainment purposes you're not thinking.
This is just some zionist propaganda where the evil muslims get killed and america wins. wake the *beep* up ey!
Wow, the US and the Israelis are behind the Suicide bombings? That's News to me.
And those damn Jews. They are behind all the evil in the world.
One difference is that in the above rant the Anti Semitism is overt and out in the open, but Roberts uses all the right code words to disguise his.

Paul Craig Roberts is also a 9/11 truther of the "Just asking questions based on ignorance" variety. To their credit, Counterpunch has taken a hard stance against 9/11 truthers and has published several essays and science pieces critical of them. Now if they can just get a handle on the rest of the nonsense they print....

I think the comparison to the Third Reich and Fascist Italy has unfortunately led people to ignore any of the actual facts within the article.
Anyone criticizing Israel's treatment of the Palestinians cannot mention the Holocaust regardless of the analogies and anyone criticizing US imperialism cannot mention Hitler or fascism. To do so just shuts down any hope of actually evaluating the conditions which have any analogous issues regardless of the significance of those US or Israeli actions.
