Hi all!

Just to minimize the surprise, who here is interested in the TAM 6 Pro-Am Texas Hold'Em No Wowbaggers No Limit Death Before Dishonor Totally Rigged By Me Tournament?

I know we will have some non-forum interest as well, so I intend to pad the numbers, but just to get things started.

We'll also need a couple of volunteers. From what I've seen in previous ones, it's a little easier of the moneytakers are not also playing, so if you want to help out a bit at the beginning, let me know.

CONFIRMED:

Mr. Ottle
Ottle

Who else?

Zing! I'm so there!

There's that Mathemagics show @ 9:00 Thursday. I'm guessing the Poker Tourney just might conflict with that - unless we start really late like @ 10:30 or something. (Or start earlier, like around 5:00).

Just sayin'

That's one of the problems win TAM - too many things to do! Decisions, decisions.

So, official start time for this is 4:30 on Thursday, right?

Don't worry about the cash - we have five Monopoly sets in our house!

We are good for 4:30pm on Thursday at the Flamingo. I told them around 30 people, and they said it would be no problem.

One thing -- every player will need a Total Rewards (https://www.harrahs.com/total_rewards/overview/overview.jsp) card. It looks like a sort of frequent flyer program. You can sign up in the casino itself and it doesn't cost anything, but you might want to do it in advance.

How much do you guys think the buyin should be? The casino will take $25 per, which is steep but that's all they're willing to do. WSOP season is not a good time for haggling.

How does $40+10 for the JREF sound?

Hokulele
5th June 2008, 02:23 PM
$25/head for the rake, $10/head for the JREF, and $15/head for me.

Sounds good.

Phlebas

How does $40+10 for the JREF sound?

That'll be fine, but we'll have to collect the JREF money separately.

At 30 players we'll be looking at a pot of $450.

How are those things normally paid out? Winner-take-all, or top 3 finishers, or something even more mathish?

Most tournaments I've been in try to pay out to the top 10%, so if we get 30, then it'd be top 3. I expect the casino will have a chart we can follow.

The casino would have a payout system, but if we have the option I'd opt for winner take all if turnout is low.

How much pot will that buy you?

I'm curious about this as well (Where do we go?)

Also, is it just me or does $10 to jref, $15 to the purse, and $25 to the Flamingo seem a bit disproportionate?

I'd certainly be willing to pony up a bit more so that the winners get a decent pot. (This coming from someone who will probably be the first to go all in and lose.)

I'm good with a higher buy-in too, but it looks like we have few people as it is. I don't want to price us down to just a handful of people.

As for where we go, we'll be at the Flamingo poker room at 4:30. I'll put a sign-up sheet on the announcement board.

KarlG

I'm definitely in for this game, but i'd go with the higher buy-in too, but as you say, the lower buy-in may attract more players. Maybe we could organise a meet-up at one of the cash tables some other time to play for larger stakes??

If it's definitely going ahead, will it be on the activities spreadsheet, as this will be my timetable for the week :)

I'd like to play too. Let me see, a card with a J, is that a Joker or a Jack? And is that higher or lower than the cards with numbers?

I'm in. Banachek's lecture gets out at 4:30. Some of us will need a few minutes to get to the tables.

Yes, it's easy to get a card (already have one). Go to the Total Rewards counter, show them your photo id and you're all set!

P.S. Count me in - Thursday @4:30pm.

Excellent! Looks like we have enough to pull this off.

Claus, do you have all the info you need for your chart?

I'll start a separate thread to poll about the buy-in.
