Have you ever noticed that the more Christian one claims to be the less their actions conform to their Christian ideology?

I am locked in a battle with my super christian sister and her husband over an issue of honestly and integrity. Thank you all. I needed to vent. My poor wife has heard this for two days now.

So vent. What are those hypocrites up to?

I love Christopher Hitchens one liner:

The Catholic Church's motto could be "no child's behind left."

Yeah, it is safe to say that tons of religious people dont adhere to religious principles.

Unaccounted family money. With Christians it's usually money or sex!

Yeah. My favourite is when a preacher/conservative 'Christian' politician is caught doing something less-than-Christian and really deviant (Ted Haggard anyone? Catholic-child-molesting priests?)

As an aside are you sure you want to be arguing with family like that?

But in the end, does not matter how unchristian you are, as long as you repent, all is forgiven. Does that seem rather absurd to anyone else?

Unaccounted family money. With Christians it's usually money or sex!If they're really super-Christian, you should have some leverage with that "What does it profit a man if he gains the world but loses his soul" thing. If they're not, just chalk it up to "all for show" and accuse them of being closet atheists! Now that they've got "looting" under their belt, ask them if they've made out their "raping and murdering" list yet.

A question my brother and I discussed for almost a year. Sad to say, this is not the first incident so we decided to bring it into the open and try for a reasonable resolution.

Next time he comes over, see if it's in his new Mercedes. If it's either you or him and you know it's not you, then it must be him.

In any case, as mentioned, you could suggest to him it's odd he would accuse you of being potentially thief-like because you were an athiest, when you could turn around and wonder, loudly and rhetorically, why a Christian would be getting so bent out of shape over money.

I mean, if that's "how Christians act", and it drives you even further from Jesus because of it, then they go to Hell, too.

That has always got me, espescially when jesusians attempt to argue to me about ethics and morals, sure I can go out and Lie Cheat Steal Rape and Murder, I can even carve graven images, and commit adultery with wild abandon, and no threat of divine punishment

Doesn't mean I have to, however they can do all these naughty things and as long as they go to another qualified jesusian and say "I did a nawty I sowwy" then they are fine. Hypocritical bollocks

About the money just ask these super best jesus freaks WWJD, probably throw a hissy fit about the money, start throwing furniture and generally giving it a grade 3 tantrum, get arrested by some atheists that won't take the "You just wait, I'll set my Dad on you" defence, and seeing as we are more enlightened these days, we may just give them a suspended sentance and fine for disturbing the peace, criminal damage, and a restraint order. I suppose they will act all martyred about it and insist on getting nailed to a tree or something.

Other than that you could use the "God Did It" response fundies think that is an answer for all logical arguments so let them have it back.

Would such people be referred to as ChIPs?

And with non-Christians, what is it? You think it's different?

When encountering obviously immoral behavior, it's more annoying when it comes from a pious source, but I seriously doubt that there's actually more of it from religious sources.
