I can't post URL's yet, but YouTube "48 Hours The Lord's Boot Camp" and you'll get there. If you "liked" Jesus Camp, Friends of God, Deliver Us From Evil, etc. this is most probably worth your time as well. It's a documentary about American teens and how they are tought to spread the word of God and the Bible around the world. Lots of disturbing dialogue from the authority to the child, pretty heavy stuff in places.

Pretty tame compared to Bible Camp. I don't care for their indoctrination methods but there was no talk of being as willing to die for Jesus as Al Qaida are to die for Islam. And I think that seeing a part of the world where life really is hard is a good experience for many of those teens. One thing that annoys me though is their certainty that people who don't agree with their religious beliefs are bound for eternal suffering as a just punishment by their god. The only heavy-handed part was the girl in Indiana confronting the Mormon mother and daughter. Although the video was certainly edited I saw no evidence that the Mormon girl's mother was "in her face". Rather, it seemed the other way around to me, especially when the camp leader came over and started in on them as well. The girls assumption that she had "true religion" while the Mormons had "false religion" is pretty typical in my experience.

Sure, on overall the style here is much less in-your-face, but I personally do care about their methods of indocrination and brainwashing, it's pretty much my main concern. And this is another quality example of that.

I think that being able to see how different life can be somewhere else is a good thing for everyone. Maybe it raises some new questions for some of these children as well.

Aside from the lack of critical examination of one's own beliefs ("This is the TRUTH and everyone else is wrong. You are bad if you reject the TRUTH. God will destroy those bad people who reject the TRUTH") I think the part that bothered me the most was the "special blessing" punishments for non-conformity.

Kind of boring.

I was saddened that the one girl decided to give up her "belief" in evolution, because the preacher said it was unsupported.

It was nice of them to bring shoes to the Africans, however.
