View Full Version : What happened to Louder Than Words?

I quite liked the title sequence of Loose Change: Final Cut, but found it daft and terribly ego-centric (With a false sense of 'anger' in Avery's voice, a narration he stupidly litters with phrases such as 'Let me get this straight') after that stage.
That said, I'm suprised it didn't get any notice whatsoever.
Any news about what happened to Avery, Bermas and co?

Not sure, but whatever it is, it isn't making Avery any more popular (http://amiannoying.com/(S(ixqb5355r2f2jz45cdlzvl55))/ranking.aspx). That's him in 80th place on the "Most Annoying" list, right behind Josef Stalin and Bill Belichick(!) and just ahead of such worthies as Tim McVeigh, Pamela Smart, and (ironically enough) Zacarias Moussaoui.

Dylan's out in San Diego now (http://loosechange911.blogspot.com/2008/04/soaking-it-in.html), supposedly working on the screenplay for his first major motion picture (probably featuring scenes that start with the line "Hi, ma'am, I'm here to clean your pool."). I believe Jason and Korey are still in Oneonta. Jason is supposedly working on his own movie and still has his radio show on GCN.

From Dylan's Blog:
TruthStock 2008 went extremely well, in my eyes. We managed to half-pack a 800-seat auditorium at San Diego State University. Here's footage of some of the turnout:
Half-packed? Uh, not according to the footage. Not that Dylan would ever exaggerate...
Back to the blog:
And I'm working on two big projects. One, I cannot really discuss, only because my associate and I are still planning it, but as far as we can tell, it has massive potential.
Can't discuss it? Massive potential? Is there anyone out there still falling for this stuff? How many times can Dylan play the "hype" card, produce nothing, and still get Truthers to bite?
From a previous post in the blog:
The fine folks down at SMT Studios have been spending their free time and energy remixing the movie into Dolby 5.1 Surround. In the meantime, we've made some minor cuts here and there to speed up the film a bit, corrected the embarrassing spelling mistake in the credits, and fixed a few other goofs here and there. We're hoping to have it done and mastered as soon as possible.
So does this make it Loose Change: Final Cut: Second Edition?
From an even earlier blog post (3/20/08):
Despite what the aforementioned toolboxes would like you to believe, the movement continues to grow,
::snicker::
and LCFC continues to spread across the country and across the world.
::giggle::
International distributors are slowly lining up, and domestic ones are still being pursued.
Now where have we heard that before, Dylan? We're all holding our breath.
There are a number of events coming up that we will be present for, but, this is where you come in: If you are hosting any kind of event, small or large, LET US KNOW. We want to publicize it and help you get as many people in the door as possible.
Translation: "We're desperate for a gig!! Nobody is coming to our screenings, so we want to hijack your event."
And I'm writing and directing my first feature film this year, thanks to interest and support from a major company that shall remain nameless at this point.
Oh Dylan... nobody, save a few morons, falls for your "nameless major company" routine.
Looks like the boy who cried "9/11" is still up to his old tricks.

...Translation: "We're desperate for a gig!! Nobody is coming to our screenings, so we want to hijack your event."
This is so incredibly pathetic, I'm not sure Avery is even trying anymore. He's got all this cool stuff lined up, spearheading a growing global movement, working on a major feature film -- and yet if you're planning to show Loose Change to a handful (pardon the pun) of your fellow circle jerkers in your mom's basement, this Hollywood big shot and revolutionary icon wants you to LET HIM KNOW so he can drop all the stupendously important stuff he's doing and see if he can pack a few more lonely lost souls in there.
Dylan Avery: The biggest joke of the decade.

Yeah cause Greg Pallast or John Pilger just gave up exposing extreme corruption to make their fight club meets pulp fiction feature, while Woodward and Bernstein quit when it got tough to work on that great american novel.

beyond being a hop and a skip from the border, and films involving donkeys/horses and hookers; and Girls Gone Wild; San Diego is not a filming location for anything serious (unless they are planning another direct to video Bring It on Movie)

I guess he has to be in San Diego because the evil Jews that run Hollywood are conspiring against him. Poor Dylan, when he was an internet celebrity he was hanging out with Charlie Sheen and meeting with big studio execs, but now that the party's over he's been left by the side of the road to fame like a forgotten bundle of last week's news. So sad. Too funny.

His narration adhered to a certain form, and phrases like the one you quoted were part of that form. Your narrator doesn't always have to be an impartial observer - see any Michael Moore film for examples of that.
With regard to what Dylan has been up to - he's working on one or two new projects. He posted an update on 911blogger.com not too long ago. While you may believe that LC:FC didn't get any attention, it proved that Dylan is a capable filmmaker. That will usually open doors for you in the movie business.

Avery wants to be a film maker. This always got to me. Basically this kid couldn't get into the film school he wanted so he decided to make a fictional film about a 9-11 conspiracy, and then happened to believe it and made a powerpoint presentation rehashing all the best crap European anti-semites had to offer.
He wants to be a film maker...he wants to go to Sundance. This is just some kid who doesn't really want to tell a story, he doesn't want to express any sort of vision. No, he has dreams of walking the red carpet and dating super models. That isn't what film making is about, but if he holds true to his promise than he will have an excuse for never making it outside of google video.
On a personal note the double entendre that is the title Loose Change has always bugged me. Oh to let loose change...LOL really clever Avery. Art film title 101, use a glorified pun as the title of your documentary.

I still say that the only hope Dylan has of becoming recognised as a documentary maker would be if he were to gather together all of that footage that he has of the LTW crew swanning around NY and hanging out together in Oneonta, their chats with Alex Jones and all those other nutjobs that he has associated himself with over the past few years and cut it down to about 52 mins.
He'd have to hire a voice-over artist and someone who knows something about writing documentaries, but I'm sure it would be possible to make an entertaining hour on the strange world of CTs.
Give it a title like: "My Life Down The Rabbit Hole" or "Too many Kooks..."
Of course it won't happen, because to do it properly he'd have to have a bit of integrity. Oh well.
