I disagree with a few points and statements in the above linnk, but overall it does a good job at explaning the history of various political ideologies.

So for all the "Libertarians" out there, what do you think?

A political genius thanks solely to hindsight. I'd have been impressed if he had written this in 1865...

I feel sorry for anyone who is forced to rely on this guy for an explanation of political credos.

Why so negative? From the article...

For the Libertarian, the main task of the present epoch is to cast off his needless and debilitating pessimism, to set his sights on long-run victory and to set out on the road to its attainment. To do this, he must, perhaps first of all, drastically realign his mistaken view of the ideological spectrum; he must discover who his friends and natural allies are, and above all perhaps, who his enemies are.
Thanks for an interesting read, Malachi. A rarity here these days.

Although I ordinarily like reading Rothbard, and think he has some very insightful points to make, even in this article, I think he makes a mistake here by using an us-against-them mentalities: find out who we're with and who we're against.

Personally, I will be with anyone who works to reduce the size of government and maximize freedom in whatever aspects they want to do so. That's why, as I mentioned in the other thread where this article came up, I've worked with local Democrats to resist the implementation of the USA PATRIOT Act, and I've worked with local Republicans to fight tax increases.

When they work for liberty, I will join them. When they work against liberty, I will fight them...without regards to what they may or may not have done at other times.

You didn't pick up on the "all-knowing" Silvia Browne/John Edward-esque predictive quality he displays?
