OK, so there I was browsing through my local Newsagency when I saw this magazine sitting snuggly in the UFO/Chrystal Healing/Astrology section. It was big and glossy and full of CT stuff, some of which was direct from American Free Press.

I saw that it is published in New Zealand and I looked at the list of editors and contributors to see if any of the names rang any bells. The only name I recognised on the list was Catherine Janeway. Are these Kiwis having a laugh or what?
Do any of our NZ posters here know anything about this mag?
ETA: I did a tiny bit of looking and came up with this bloke: Steve Crow.

Looks like a skinhead nazi to me...

I take it Quasimodo wasn't listed! ;)

Nope. Janeway was the only fictional character I recognised.

So now I'm wondering what you were doing in the UFO/Crystal Healing/Astrology section. :D

Because as usual the people who stack those shelves don't know the difference between Astronomy and Astrology, or Science Fact and Science Fiction. Nexus magazine always seems to be right next to New Scientist.
OK you caught me! I was checking out my horoscope to see if I would meet a woman at the pub trivia tonight...

Ah yes, good old Steve Crow.
Steve Crow is a pornographer and New Zealand's (admittedly lightweight) version of Alex Jones. He publishes a variety of "make stuff up" magazines including the aptly named "Truth". He's swallowed the 9/11 crud numerous times and claims that Helen Clark and the Labour party are the New Zealand branch of George Bush's NWO (a laughable notion given that Helen Clark is rabidly anti-American).
He's your usual paranoid idiot.

I find it disturbing that his little hack rag has found itself an Australian publishing and distribution deal which lands it on the shelves of my local newsagent here in Sydney.
How do we stem this tide of ****** (fecal matter)?

We need magazines like this to illustrate the difference between censorship and editing.

But "the end" wasn't the end of the interview, I suspect. Unfortunate, because the guy's so entertaining, and I want to hear his "compelling" account of his four UFO encounters!

He publishes Pravda? Wow, that's impressive.

it may have been the end. Eating Media Lunch is a humorous news show, so it wouldn't surprise me if they decided to end it there.

Wow, that is really something allright. Chemtrails, medical woo, vaccine woo, peak oil...and that's just the first issue.
Mikey Havoc is the well known voice of reason and sanity on radio bFM in Auckland, as well as an intrepid stirrer of the soup. He is a Contributing Editor of UNCENSORED
Somebody called "Mikey Havoc" sure sounds like a voice of reason to me :D

Pravda (Russian: Правда, "The Truth") was a leading newspaper of the Soviet Union and an official organ of the Central Committee of the Communist Party between 1912 and 1991.

Oh right. Heh. No. This "Truth" features scantily clad women on the front cover (I think they have a regular page where they interview/photograph some random girl). The sort of girl that looks quite attractive from across the store, but once you pick up the magazine, less so.

The Australian Newsagency Blog has an article about Uncensored (http://www.newsagencyblog.com.au/2006/01/15/is_emuncensored.html) and the financial reasons why it gets distributed in Australia. Its an interesting read.
Oh, and check out the comments.

Having read the comments I suspect most of the buyers of "Uncensored" buy it for the same reason as many jack-the-lads buy the much more popular "Zoo" (http://www.zootoday.com/) - because its a tacky, cheap, weekly/monthly dose of light, laughable entertainment. The only difference being that "Zoo" buyers realize so!

It's like The Picture, but without the naked women. What's the point of that?

Hmm, according to the newsagents not many people buy it but I guess we've got some idea about who does:
The only product advertised in the magazine, besides a sister magazine and some dubious books is an ad for MAGNA-RX+, the “world’s #1 best-selling all-natural male performance formula”. Yep, this is a quality publication.
Oh, and check out the comments.
Yes it is true that uncensored contains some questionable content, with unreferenced, unproven, highly debateable non issues like area 51, crop circles, and all the usual ufo drivel. despite these short comings, there is a lot of referenced (verifiable) information on political, coporate and religious corruption and conspiracy.

Well, at least it's peer-reviewed.
