My "Woo" project

Hey everyone,

I've had this idea for a project for a while, that I've only just begun. The basic idea is to just interview people as to why (or why not) they believe in the paranormal. I am much more interested as to why they believe in ghosts and the like much more so than I am about their religious beliefs, but they're all hand in hand I suppose.

I've done two so far, with more planned. The first one is my old neighbor, and the second is the guy who works the late shift at the convenient store by my house. They're kind of interesting and definitely good for a laugh.

Bear in mind that people may exaggerate, misremember or outright lie.

It can be very hard to tell.

Well, they can lie or say whatever they want. I'm really just trying to document people explaining why they believe in the paranormal. In the first two videos they didn't really give any explanation whatsoever, but they said what they felt was appropriate to my question. So that's about all I can expect.

Sounds a really good project, though it might have a lot more to do with folklore than science! But it's only by collecting the raw material that you can get stuff to analyse for meme patters and so on.

Don't just interview believers- it's interesting in itself why different people might classify similar experiences as "ghost" or "unexpalined phenomenon". Elsewhere on the forum, I described an experience that happened to me in hospital- a dream that a dying man in a neaby bed was trying to steal my body. Others might have used the same experience as evidence of body/ spirit duality, or as an out of body experience etc. rather than a dream.

Well yea, I'm in no way doing this in the "interest of science" or anything. It's just a fun, mildly interesting project.
